My wife has a RIA 1911 single stack and loves it. I do not run her ammo at full steam though. I do load 38 Super Comp brass instead of plain 38 Super. I really want a 38 Super carbine!

As far as 38 Super in an XD.... I would run a compensator to tame the slide. Can't see it being any worse than a 40 though.

you MIGHT be able to do it... If you use ONLY flat pointed bullets and sat them really deep.

The max COAL of .38 Super is 1.280"
The max COAL of 9mm Luger is 1.169"

You've got about 11 thousandths to play with there. If you seat a short, flat pointed bullet (like a 90gr XTP) as deep as it will go without passing the case mouth, you might be able to get it to fit in a standard 9mm magazine.

Also, .38 Super is semi-rimmed. Might be a problem.

You can run 38 Super Comp brass to avoid the semi rim.

As I'm reading more and reading y'alls posts, I'm starting to think this might be more trouble than it's worth. It seems like my best bet to shoot an XDm in open major will be the XDm .40 5.25. I appreciate all of the input and I might try this further on down the road, but it seems like a bit of a finicky project. Thanks guys!

No. COL too long for 9mm mag well. Would fit into a 45 cap frame though.

    I'd buy a 38 Super XDm or XD Mod.2
