I'm looking to buy my first sig.

I found a local shop with a Certified Pre-Owned Sig 228. It's very difficult to tell it from a new pistol...virtually no wear! It comes with the factory case, manual, 1yr warrantee, 2 mags, etc. It is equipped with night sights.

What is a fair price for the above?
They are asking $560, which will put it to $605 after tax.

    Thanks!

Sounds pretty good considering the warranty and condition I would check around first then negotiate and if it seems good to you go for it.

8% tax! ouch! Fantastic pisol though. If I was in the market, I'd grab it. That's about what I paid for a 1 year old CPO P226 9mm with night sights and a tac rail. Someone bought it and a year later it went in for CPO, crazy. But I LOVE it!

Hold your horses on that one. Buds Guns has them for $450 delivered !!! But they are used, not CPO's. But hey its a Sig , you have nothing to worry about. ;)

I would go with the CPO. I love the 228. By far my favorite handgun. I myself own a sweet 1989 W.German P228 myself and it has seen well over 100k rounds without any issues.

Ive only needed to detail strip/clean the slide assembly once in its lifetime and its good for another 100k rounds.

I own a couple of W. German KB date code P228's. The 228 is a must have for any collection.

CDNN was selling used ones for $469. I am not sure if they still have them.

You cannot go wrong at that price. You are not getting ripped off, as long as the gun is tight.

About two months ago, I bought a used P228 from Coles Distributing in KY and it ran me about 425 bucks plus shipping and a transfer fee. Way under 500 altogether.

I got a very nice 1991 KB dated P228 that has some wear, but pristine inside and a fantastic shooter. You might want to contact Coles and see if they still have any left. The Buds route also sounds good...they're good people to deal with.

The P228 is DEFINATELY worth owning. A great shooter and one of the best guns in the older P-Series SIG lineup. I own a P220, P225 and a P228 and will probably buy an older P226 sometime early next year. Can't have too many W. German SIGs!

Last month a local dealer had a surplus P6 9mm in the case for $330 plus tax. I should have bought it on the spot but waited too long and it was gone. I'm still kicking myself for passing it up.

Oh well. I love my new P229 tho! :)

Just a few notes for you to consider. The 228 is a discontinued model. That isn't necessarily bad, just something to keep in mind. In fact a lot of people prefer the 228 because the stamped slide makes it lighter. Sig is still servicing several government contracts for them so parts should not be a problem for a long time if ever.

I bought my CPO P229 in .40 S&W for $449 out the door, but that was without night sites and before the election. Obama really put the hurt on us. That's probably a fair price now. And it is a Sig!
