Does anyone know about the CAI 1911A1 Elite? A local shop has one that has caught my eye.

    Thanks in advance

I haven heard of it either. I thought that Century arms was just an importer. I have 2 military surplus pistols and a rifle that are from C.I.A. . I thought they just import them and etch their name on it . Is this specifically made by them ?

Shot a friends Century Arms 1911 .45 compact yesterday. Very impressed and pleasantly surprised. For a price tag of $400 great deal. shot 200+ rounds with no jams or problems. I shot it with my HK USP .45, Colt Double Eagle .45, and Springfield 1911 .45 Trophy Match, and held it's own well out to 50'+. I'd say good addition to any collection. note- I too had never even heard of this gun prior to yesterday.

If you haven't yet, I'd call Century Arms and see what's what.

Is a Colt the same as a S&W?

    They're both US manufacture, right?

There's a couple of 1911 manufacturers in the PI...

Armscoor is the only philipino manufacturer that I have seen with products marketed in the US.

    Name some others?

    Metro Arms, for starters.

And while Armscor does manufacture a few different lines (RIA, Armscor, older Charles Daly), they don't do all of them. IIRC, American Classic is another PI import that isn't made by Armscor.
