It's really ironic how much I've been bragging about my XDS gun to everyone. Never jams vs. my FNS . Just for giggles I thought I would shoot some Corbon hollow points I have at the range. WOW. I've got a gun that jambs! The round gets pushed down a bit and lodges against the feed ramp. Tried some HST hollow point...same thing. Thought it was the ammo.. but I ran both products through the FNS which has jambed in the past even with ball...no issues with either hollow point ammo. Tried the high capacity magazine...same issues. Anyone have any ideas what's going on?
I would call, not email, Springfield and send it back. Something is out of spec or assembled wrong. Your pistol should eat and shoot about everything you feed it IMHO. Wish you well.
EDIT- Are you riding the slide or letting it slam? Slam is the way. Did you do any mods with the springs? Something is not right. Find it.
2) the only HPs you should concern yourself with are the Big 4:
FEDERAL HST
SPEER GOLD DOT
REMINGTON GOLDEN SABRE
WINCHESTER PDX
Honorable mention Federal Hydra-Shok
Gimmick rounds (CorBon) are a waste of money and cause for undue concerns--the weapon will run the above JHP rounds of handled properly...
You cannot handle an XD-S the same as any other platform--you have to run the gun violently...anything short of perfection on your part, the weapon lets you know! Before you blame anything, remove yourself from the equation...

My XDs 9mm eats HSTs with no problem and they are even +P. I agree something is not right. The XDs is designed as a defensive pistol and should thus feed most HPs reliably. It even comes from the factory with a polished feed ramp. I would question the mags as this sounds like a mag issue not necessarily a gun issue.
No matter if your rounds are "hand crafted" or mass produced, if in-spec, they should feed without fail. I would think it is not a gun defect, though possible, if you are not talking about when you chamber the first round, my guess is the mag or ammo. Easy enough to find the culprit.
BTW, I reload and have tried many different bullet profiles, all fed fine, even some that should not. It is an amazing gun, or in my case "guns" , got two XDS 45s. Good luck
When I first got my XDs45 it would do that when I racked the slide back using the thumb & forefinger method. Started using the "overhand method '' of racking the slide & solved that issue.
My XDs 9 feeds either way.
Federal HST's in both of them.
I'd try that before blaming the mags, ammo, or the gun.
Corbon does cause jams - I've shot before in different guns and it always causes issues. They tend to be shorter and don't feed properly out of the mag because they get stuck on the bottom of the feed ramp - as you have explained. Those jams may have caused new issues which is why the other rounds jam now...
i don't disagree about CorBon being sucktastic...but how exactly does a nosediving round, entirely composed of softer metals than the firearm, cause further issues?
Just to clarify. I also tried other brands of HP and am getting the same result. As far as the number of jambs is concerned it has only happened the three times at the range Saturday and I put the gun away. I shoot ball out of this gun every weekend. I tried all three of my mags and get the same result. something is definitely wrong.
If only with hallow points you have bad magazines or you have one of two things. A marred feed ramp or a dirty feed ramp. Can you take some photos of the ramp? Especially the thin start of the ramp? Close ups would be good...from front, side, bottom and straight down.
Okay, I clean the gun after every shoot but just for the sake of it I gave the gun another vigorous cleaning including the mags. Now no toruble with HST but the Corbon's still jamb. As was mentioned previously they are much shorter than other ammo. They feed fine in the FNS.
I won't say your "limpwristing" but if your shooting hot corbon loads then it's entirely possible that this is why it's happening only with those rounds.
they are nukes. I think they make one of (if not-- the) hottest commercial 9mm loads.
+p is good stuff for SD. It's actually recommended for barrels shorter than 3.5 inches for SD in some circles. I suspect for muzzle velocity rating... I think we need a few more calibers - just because there aren't enough debates between what's out there
Man, we could make another thread about using reloads for self defense ammo so I don't want to get this off track. It's shocking to me the number of people who use fmj for carry ammo, the cheap stuff at that. Then those that do use hollow point just grab the cheapest stuff. I'd be willing to bet the number of people who know the ballistics of their carry ammo is under 10%. Probably closer to 5%.
I'd bet an even higher percentage never test fire their carry loads, just stuff them in a magazine and figure they're good to go.
FWIW, my back-up mags are FMJ...Federal Gold Match 230gr. I figure that if I hit the point where I'm using them, I've either 1) got a feeding issue to the point where I had to jettison the primary mag, and FMJ minimizes the chances of further issues or 2) the fight has gone long, and people are likely getting behind stuff...and ball has a better chance of making concealment out of cover.
My XD-S 9mm jammed on me a few times the same way yours did "round sticking downward" I changed my mag/mags spring to a stronger one and no more problems. The spring was not strong enough to push the rounds up fast enough before the slide would go back to battery, the slide would catch the back of the round and push it forward before the front of the round would get up to the chamber. Hope this helps.
Mine has had a healthy diet of PDX1 from Winchesteer. No issues in over 550 rounds. Total roundcount is over 3700 with the rest being a mix of Winchester White Box 230 gr., Federal 230Gr, and an off brand from Wally World (name escapes me but it is in a baby blue box). All were 230 Gr FMJ.
If you say so, it must be true.
I do realize this is the XDS forum and that little hellion is a finicky little B. So, I do understand when you say, "Not good for my Prima Donna."
On the other hand, I will continue to buy the CorBon +p (when cheap enough) for my Glock which seams to eat anything, now that I fixed it. They are one Heck of an accurate and consistently powerful round. But again, this is an XDS forum. They might just be scaring the XDS into failure. Who knows?
Glad it works for your gun... I've tried it like everyone believing the propaganda. If it works - great, but that just hasn't been my experience - but they do have some pretty awesome videoes showing how powerful their powerball ammo is... But, no thanks.
Still waiting for the gimmicky explanation, if there is one.
And, I sure am glad my XDS isn't suffering all these Prima Donna problems. To me, my XDS is great! Springfield, on the other hand could use a little kick in the pants regarding their parts policies. But then again, maybe they know their own customers better than I thought.
Depending on exactly what load in particular, CorBon tends to have expansion failures through most barriers, coupled with under penetration in their lighter weight for caliber offerings (eg PowRBall and Glaser).
The only loading if theirs I would ever consider is the DPX.
