Planning to buy a Blade Tech HOD holster for USPSA - production. Which type of mounting you would recommend (Tech-lock or through the belt)?

    Thanks for the help :?:

I'd be interested in hearing this too. I have a Bladetech IWB holster thats a through belt. It works but the Tech-lock seems to be much easier getting on and off. I have to completely remove my belt to get my holster off since I'm a lefty.

If you are concerned about the holster staying put, the through the belt works just fine.

The belt through piece is just a peice of plastic that is screwed in, somewhat flimsy but holds strong when pulled on which is what you need for the draw. Since in USPSA
you'd most likely be using an OWB holster, just image this belt through backwards:

Thanks for the reply Nightraider! I am planning on using the holster with a CR Speed belt. The concern I have is whether the Tech-Lock is a secure mount. Does it come unlocked and or does the clip fall off during competition? If the mounting is not a problem, I will probably go with the Tech-lock. Just trying to make the right decision.

    Many Thanks!

I have the Tec Loc attachments on my Bladetech mag pouches.

Just something about them that I wouldn't trust as the attachment point for a holster.

Just my opinion but I'd get the belt attachment.

Probably the better choice. Blade-Techs products are top of the line, you won't be disappointed. Just so you know, I trust my belt through system with my life since its my
conceal carry holster. Should do you just fine. Good luck at your USPSA events!

I have the belt through (what they call "loops") on my duty belt and I am happy with it.

All of my Blade-Tech rigs have Tek-Lok. Tek-lok is a a belt loop attachement that is hinged, so you can install and remove the holster on the belt without removing the belt. If you use the locking clip, it is just as secure as loops. That said, I have not used the locking clip in 3 years and my Tek-Lok has never opened.

I strong recommend the newer "sting ray" loops. They provide the most stable platform for the holster of the tech-lok, paddle and loop designs.

I bought my Blade Tech with belt loops to use in the Provisional USPSA Single Stack division and after the first practice session changed to TecLocks.
