I'm sure this has been posted before but i can't find it anywhere. Does anybody know anything about the Black widow ak's. I want a good ak money is not an option I will spend what i have to for a great one. I have to have a milled receiver and I want to be able to get replacement parts if the need should ever arise. Any help would be great. Used to own a bulgariun that I wish I still had.

after a certain point $texas$ will buy you nothing better then a diff. less expensive option. ak is an ak (relatively speaking).

ill be honest, never heard of black widow.

I believe you are talking about the Ak's that are sold with the tacticool accessories on Gunbroker and the likes. They are pretty much just WASR's with tactical accessories. For the price I would look into a Rifle Dynamics by Fuller, an Arsenal Build or a Krebs custom. Most of the Ak's on gunbroker are a bit overpriced for what you are getting.

    GunsAmerica - BLACK WIDOW AK47-XTS© EXTREME TACTICAL! TACTEDGE 7" RED/GREEN DOT SCOPE+UTG MULTIFUNCTION LASER & TACLIGHT+TELESCOPIC FOLDING BIPOD+FOLDING FOREGRIP+RPK STYLE MUZZLE BREAK+SIX(6) 30RD POLYMER MAGS+G2 CUSTOM TRIGGER+CHROME LINED BARREL+

...umm its 1k for a import ak with overpriced aftermarket crap on it....and honestly who puts a bipod and a vert grip on any weapon, sure it looks cool but try to pick it up and shoot off hand for a while...and the tac light in the vert grip looks blocked by the mount for the bipod...genius.

Ahh.....that price is ridiculous.....don't wast the money....you can make a ninja AK for far less if that floats your boat.

I was more looking at them because they claim to not be mass produced and have milled receiver that's heat treated I don't care about all the bells and whistles. I was actually looking at one of the cheaper ones I don't want the bipod or that was more worried about receiver build quality. Don't want cheap parts. Have been looking at the arsenals but a good milled one is around the same price. Any info one the arsenals wild be helpful too. Definitly don't want a wasr.

it's a basic Nodak stamped receiver....not a milled and the remaining parts are more then likely from a rommy kit as they are plentiful, you're basically getting a wasr with tapco parts.

find a different ak. like everyone has said you could do better

edit: to add to cooks post.... wasr $350ish + tapco furniture $100 = $450. so you do the math.

My first though: "Holy Crap! Gecko45 is selling his AK!"

Second thought: Yeah. I try to stay away from anything with "extreme" in it's description...and "extreme tactical" is just mall-ninja speak for "useless dreck that no actual shooter would want, but we put on our rifles because it makes them look all bada** an junk".

I would understand if it was a milled receiver (they flex alot less than the stamped steel ones

But that thing is as ugly as a mud fence! I would bet its also as useful as one too...good grief...look at all that garbage slapped on there.

    If it doesn't come with a Katana I don't want it..hahahahah

    Uggh

g barnes....i've tried to look up black widow as a company and can't find crap and they seem to only sell their guns in a few places. This means one thing (to me at least)...they are just importing base ak's from somewhere abroad cheap and putting fancy furniture on them (tapco, magpul, etc) and selling them at a ridiculous price. I guess I'm still trying to figure out why you want a milled receiver so bad on an ak of all things...if you want an AK (rugged, stout and pretty much indestructible) they are cheap and plentiful however if you want precision accuracy go with an AR platform in 7.62 they are a hell of a lot easier to find and not really that expensive for a good one that will last a good long time....don't get me wrong here I'm not knocking the AK or clapping up the AR, just need to know the limitations of each and what they are intended for.

If you want the best VALUE in AK's it's a Saiga. Saigas have NEW AK receivers, (CHROME LINED) barrels, bolts, carriers, etc, etc.

If you don't want to do the work on it yourself, you can have any reputable conversion done by one of the business members over at Saiga-12.com.

Here's the thing, Milled receivers have been "sold" to us as "way better" by companies like Arsenal, so they can charge a premium. Milled receivers are heavy.

Here's another thing, the accuracy of an AK is dependent mostly upon AMMO QUALITY. If you're going to shoot 7.62x39mm (Standard AK47) then your choices for quality match-like ammo are almost NILL. There are plenty of cheap 7.62x39 sources but all the foreign steel-cased stuff is pretty inconsistent. Whether you're shooting Wolf ammo from a Saiga or a Milled Arsenal, you're not going to get MOA accuracy. Now, I've gotten MOA or better from my Saiga-308 using Federal Gold Match Ammo.

So the entire point of a milled receiver is rigidity and thus, accuracy. BUT you're going to shoot crappy ammo through it so you won't get good accuracy, but your rifle will be heavy.

If you want an AK with a better variety of ammo choices, i'd recommend the .223 or the .308. In either of those you can get some cheaper ammo and some better match ammo.

I'm in the process of finding a .223 Saiga myself. I resisted it for a long time but I think it's time.

My main reason for wanting a miiled receiver is quality. I read all over the place about people with these wasr having a lot of problems. I want to buy an ak that is pretty much indestructible(within reason of course). I like the simplicity of the ak over the ar. Maybe I'm being to picky but for 600 dollars i want something. I know they dont have a website and are only on a couple of sites thats why I wanted to know if they were junk. I. Thanks to everyone for their help. I just want to make sure I spend my money as wisely as possible. I don't want to buy something I'm gonna take a lose on just to get rid of it cause it's junk, I already had to do that with a taurus millenium I didn't check up on first. What do you think I should get( I realize I have to make up my own mind in the end).

check out places like AIM Surplus, Centerfire systems or Classic Arms for a greater selection. I'm a big fan of milled AKs, I own an imported milled Bulgarian from Arsenal of Bulgaria...not Vegas along with a milled Norinco. Don't get me wrong..milled AKs are good investments, but a good quality stamped receiver is going to suite your needs just fine and stand the test of time. I own three other stamped AKs and I wouldn't toss them aside for one of my milled, as a matter of fact...all of my stamped AKs get more range time.

Unless you get Norinco MAK90 or a pre import ban AK, such as a Hungarian, Chicom, Yugo or others that was actually imported from the parent company, your buying an american built rifle with the required number of US parts. What you need to look for is the quality of the builder and not the origin of the parts kit. There was nothing wrong with Romanian rifles until Century started mucking low cap models up and hiring retards on their production floor on their high caps, but for every bad one you hear about...there will be ten people saying theirs shoot just fine.

Milled receivers in AKs were never meant to see the light of day.

They are a stopgap measure to keep production up.

The original AK-47 was designed with a stamped receiver, but this technology was ahead of it's time, and they had to resort to the old-school milling methods for the type 2 and 3 AK-47.

Certain companies want you to think that milled receivered AKs are "all that" because they're sitting on hundreds of thousands of them from the cold war. . .

They're not "all that", by any means. Don't believe the hype.
