I have a WASAR 10 ak-47. I have the side mount rail system for optics. My question what is the best red dot and mout that will allow for co witness with my ak ? I have look at the gas tube replacement mounts, witch look to be the best idea. But I have never seen it or shot it on a rifle. Also I need a good red dot sight for my ak with the price range of $100-200 any ideas

Heres my WASR10 - I just put a Burris Fastfire III (paid $240 for it)
on my Midwest Industies AK handguard. I opted out of getting a top rail cover that can co-witness (but I might get it later if I really want to co-witness, but right now I don't). I love it so far:

This is what it would look like with the shortened top rail:

Personally, I think optics look bad on AKs when theyre on the dust cover or mounted on the side with some of those rediculously oversized side mounts

If you have the side mount that goes up and over the dust cover and want to keep it looking original without replacing parts, you can get the Russian Kobra. But if I recall, they might be out of your price range. It seems to me they cost a few hundred last time I looked. I believe they were designed specifically for the AK platform.

If you're just looking for a range / plinker sight, I have been having very good luck with my Primary Arms red-dot. Delivered it was under $80.

For a little more robust and more $$ money, I'd sugget the "Bright Red Dot" from Vortex. (The mulit-color one supposedly isn't so good in bright sun).

Both of those, I have experience with and feel very comfortable suggesting. Those are both available for reasonably cheap money.

Once you look to break $200, (only would do that for a shtf / hd / sd gun) my suggestion has been to save money and look for a deal on an Aimpoint Pro or the EoTech. Both of those can be found for about $350 delivered. IMO - that extra money is well worth it on any type of critical situation where lives depend on it.

    My .02.

Vortex Strikefire on TWS cover. Over your $200 limit but worth it. (Ps co- witness with peep sight)

Bushnell TRS-25 have 2 and they are great performer's for around $100.
Have a ton of rounds thru mine on a Ak74 and Ak47.
Good battery life and plenty bright.
Even in winter with snow and bright sun.

An AK-47 should never have an optical sight.
