I was cleaning my XDSC 40 and noticed a flat spot on the front of the barrel. It's right on top at the very end where it sits in the slide. Is this normal? I have only about 500 rounds fired.

can't get a picture that show's the ware, it's too shinny but yes it's removing material from the end of the barrel. It must be rubbing on the slide when it comes back and the barrel comes up.

I know it's hard to answer that question without a picture but I can't get it to show with or without a flash. I emailed SA yesterday and have had no reply as of yet. I might try to color the make and take a picture and see if that will work. Thanks for reply.

Now are you talking about the top flat portion of barrel, if you cannot feel any abrasion with your fingers and its only finish rubbing, its is fine. Look at the picture below is that the problem area your talking about?

No it's at the muzzle of the barrel, straight down from the front sight. It seems to be hitting the slide as it moves back and the barrel comes up. I guess I should have said on top of the muzzle (top front of the barrel)
