Hi everone, just recently purchased the xd9sc and shot about 500 rounds of random ammo (s&b, herters, etc) without any FTF or FTE, then came up on some BVAC 115gr hp ammo. Loaded one up and the slide jammed half way, ejected the round, again slide stuck, and again. I know they're reloads but thought they shouldn't have a problem.

Anyone had any experiences with this ammo???

    well that is unfortunate.

I have only shot this out of my .45 acp- I feel it was the best reloads I have had yet } for a commercial reload that is

the local pd here uses this as well for practice ammo

I will buy this stuff any chance I get, flowed like a dream for me. great shooting experience > maybe I was lucky for the few batches I bought ? but really, really smooth ammo

    HuntingTargetMatch
    BVAC
comes loose in box of 50- 230 gr FMJ 45 acp $19.95

What's the COL of the BVAC stuff? My 9sc is VERY sensitive to COL and HP's.

interesting... i shot BVAC 9mm JHP, FMJ without a hiccup on my XD9service and XD9SC SS. the 45 JHP also shoots fine on my PT1911SS and Kimber Custom II... their 22LR also shoots fine with my P22.

they are ok accurate, but dirty though.

I've shot hundreds of rounds of BVAC 9mm FMJ without any problems at all through my XD9 service and XD9sc. Surplus ammo is my local shop and I buy all my ammo from them most of the time. BVAC is a very popular round here. They sell by the tons, 500 and 1000 round boxes at a time. Sorry to hear about your experience, I don't think that's the norm with this ammo.

hm interesting. ya i got it from surplus ammo here in lakewood/tacoma, WA. Bought just 100. Maybe I just picked a crap box of ammo but I'm scared to use the other box of 50. First time loading JHP in the xdsc because I thought I'd be fun in the woods..lol, luckily I wasn't in a situation where I needed to use it..

I ended up buying 1K of bvac 9mm from surplus ammo.
Out of 1000, I had 7 rounds fail to fire.
I felt that was acceptable for what I paid for it..

I've had nothing but good luck with their .45 and .308.

Sometimes, some guns don't like some certan types of ammo; for example, I have a USP that will gobble absolutely anything except Winchester WinClean ammo...could very well be this is the case with your XD and BVAC.

I purchased a new box of 50 rounds to try out in my new Ruger LCR 357. ( I have put about 150 rounds of new, various brands of 38 special & 38 spl + p ammo through this gun previously with no problem.)

I cleaned her the day I took her home and have cleaned her each of the three times she has been to the range. I am using as my self defense gun for my vehicle and will use it occasionally for my CCW. I spent the extra $ on the 357 model to have the ability to use 357 rounds or 38 special.

I brought it to range tonight with a brand new box of the BVAC 357 JHP 158 gr ammo and loaded her up... First shot packed a serious kick as expected, but it was certainly manageable with the hogue tamer grip. When I fired the second round I felt something hit my face but didn't think anything about it as I usually shoot automatics and occasionally get hit with ejected casing that bounces off the range glass partition.

When I fired the third round, I felt something hit my cheek and it stung... I put the gun down and wiped my face and realized I was bleeding. I went to a mirror and saw that I had two small cuts on my cheek that looked like small cuts. I was amazed as the little cuts continued to bleed so much.

I plan on contacting Bitteroot Valley Ammo tomorrow to inquire if there was a recall or something...

I've inspected the firearm and there is no apparent damage, but plan on having inspected by a smith prior to using again.

I will follow up on this and post again as situation develops.

Interested to see if anyone else has had a similar experience.

    Thanks,

    joe

Sounds more like your LCR is out of time, and is shaving the jacket off.

    Another dead thread revival...

    On an after note:
I did buy 1K rds of BVAC in 9mm.
My Sigs and G19 ran it with no problems.
My Kimber CDP Ultra, could not digest it at all.;)
So I ran it thru my Sigs and Glock till it was gone....YMMV
