I retire in a year and 3 months and wouldn't mind flying their Hawk T2's as I fly T-45A/C Goshawks now.

To the best of my knowledge you dont just transfer. You leave your military and then move down here and join the ADF. They have been doing it for years with the Brit Army guys.

I seriously considered the French Foreign Legion after I was RIF'd out of the Army post Vietnam in Germany. However, I was a single parent with two small children after my stupid ex left the children and I for a GI doper in Germany.

I would have made the move probably to my own bad end. In any case, I didn't and my life moved on somewhat. If Australia was available then, I'd have made the move.

I wonder how the pay is. Not that I would get out just to join. Would be cool to get paid to live there though.

A bit like everywhere else depends on rank and job. I teach as a civilian at the School of Signals and the trainees are on around A$65k per year, they do around 14 months training and it goes up from there.

A lot better than when I was training back in the early 80's lucky to be about A$20k back then.

If that's not including housing and subsistence and such that's not bad depending on what rank.

not positive but the army sgt at 13 years I knew said it would be a little more, and when deployed they do great, and they do fight with us so you can feel good about it.

as long as your not scared to drive around in a halfway uparmored jeep thing instead of an mrap....

now the brits.... man I would love a jackel
