Well..i've only taken my new XD.40 to the range once and was using Independence ammo (recommended by rep at Sportsmans warehouse) and had 3 or 4 FTF...after i was done with my 100 rnds of that i purchased the house range ammo...PMC and had no problems. I think alot of people dislike PMC but it worked better than that independece. I did notice that the independence round has a wider flat tip than did the PMC...think that is what was causing my FTF's?

Anyone ever use Independece ammo? and did you have any FTF's?

I used it with no problems in my 9mm Service XD. I had to stop using it because it didn't make minor power factor in USPSA.

Rented a xd40 with independence ammo--11 jams out of 50. Hanging up on the extractor.

I have a box, but I haven't fired any yet. I'm still usin up my Blazer aluminum's and my Blazer Brass. Then it's on to the Ind. ammo. I don't really like the sound of this tho. I guess we'll see what happens. For cheap ammo, the Blazer's are awesome. I've gone thru about 150 rds of it, w/ no problems at all.

300 rds thru 2 XD-9 Subs. No hitches no troubles no errors.

Shots about the same as WWB 115.

well...i'm going back to the range soon...i won't use independence, but perhaps cci or wwb...so If I have more FTF's what do I do? send it back to SA? I hope I don't have anymore cuz I hate being dissapointed!

When I first got my xd I had a couple of ftf at first I thought that it was the gun, or even the ammo, after about 500 rounds later of independence, pmc, wwb, blazer, and federal hydra shocks I have not had any more problems.

The closest range near me requires me to purchase my ammo from them and all they stock in 9mm is Independence ammo. I've put over 800 rounds of that through my XD and the only FTE I've had was when I was trying different stances - I think I was limp wristing. But, that was only 1 out of 800+. I prefer WWB, but only because it is $11 per 100 at Walmart vs $8 per 50 for Independence at the range.

I call this ammo "Shooting Star" ammo because it always seems to shoot out a few sparks each shot. Other than that, never a problem in my XD9 Sub, and XD9 Service, over 2000 rounds.

This is probably the worst thing I will ever admit in a gun forum.

I usually never worry about how a weapon feeds for the first 100 rounds or so.

I always look for build or part flaws, cracks, chips and so on after a jam or failure, but I just blow it off as a new gun needing a little care and beating.

I've had a couple 1911's that fed like crap for awhile. Stove pipes and FTE. My wifes Sigma is still junk, er I mean, feeds like crap, uhh needs a little more breaking...in.

I've had two AR's one shot out of the box with some cleaning just fine.

The other nearly got thrown in the lake until it's 5th or sixth mag of 30. I had metal flakes all over my arms by the time it started to feed properly.

It's probably why my grandpa had me shoot and clean shoot and clean shoot and clean after every shot for so long. He said it was to break in the barrels, and that may be true. I also think it was to keep me from loosing the weapon. Probably clears up some of the tight spots that might cause feeding problems.

Short temper + long arms = empty jam(n) gun thrown loooong. distances.

I've had only FTE from my KAHR MK9 and zero failures from my SA XD9
Service from several hundred rounds fired. I usually use WWB.

So far, I've shot 200 rounds of Idependence. Seemed like every other round would FTF. Cured the problem by really choking down on my grip (my wrist hurt and my back was soreafter only 100 rnds.). Too unnatural. My 22lb spring wont even chamber the first round from the slide lock release lever position. I have to rack the slide and release as quickly as a can utilizing the spring and slide's max. potential, and thats with a polished feedramp. I've never had this happen with any other cartridge. I have to agree with jhs71 when he says it hangs on the extractor, because it looks like that if the cartridge didn't have a bullet seated at the top, it would stovepipe. Haven't tried it with the factory 18lb spring though. As for your concern with CCI, too many FTE's for me. 3 out of 50 is to often. I also found the only cure for that was significantly choking down on the grip with both Independence and CCI. I don't ever "limp wrist" when I shoot, but I literally have to death grip my XD to correct these problems.
