I already have 00 and 000 low recoil buckshot..
Anybody make reduced recoil #4 buck?
Federal has it in their Vital Shock or Tactical shotgun ammo. Fiocchi also has it in their LE ammo line. I bought some Italian made Nobel Sport LE shotgun ammo in 27 pellet #4 low recoil buckshot last week. I got 50 rounds for about $30 from ammunition to go.
This stuff also looks interesting:
I googled "low recoil #4 buck" and "reduced recoil #4 buck" and came up empty..
$30 for 50rds is a decent price, and exactly what i'm looking for!
edit - not the multi-ball mall ninja load
I noticed that the Nobel Sport #4 buck is 27 pellet versus Federal #4 is 24 pellet. I have both. Not sure which is more preferred but I think the Federal is standard 2 3/4 full recoil. The Federal #4 buck I have is not their Tactical low recoil/low flash ammo.
Help me out here guys. I've also been looking for #4 buck reduced recoil loads. Something around 1.125 oz at 1150 fps or 1.0 oz at 1200 fps. So far I've come up empty.
I really want to switch to #4 buck from 00 buck for home defense. But I will not give up the low recoil of currently available reduced recoil 00 buck loads for it.
And gee, if I happen to find something that will work, I could also use it for close steel in USPSA 3-gun. It'd really hammer down those poppers.
Could y'all post some part numbers and links to the manufacturer sites?
Well, the Nobel Sport wont fit that bill because it is over 1300fps. Federal Tactical in #00 does fit but its not the #4 you are looking for.
I dont have Federal Tactical in #4 buckshot so I cannot look at the specs on the box. I do have Federal Power Shok in #4 but it is 1325fps.
Here is some Rio Royale #4 buckshot that is also offered in full power buckshot. I guess that means this offering is less than fullpower but it doesnt specifically say "low recoil" :
Ammunition To Go : 25rds - 12 Gauge Rio Royal 2 3/4" 21 Pellet #4 Buck [rb1221] - $12.95
The Rio #4 load is 21 pellet at 1345 fps. No joy there.
The load I'm using now is Remington Managed-Recoil 00 buckshot p/n RL12BK00. 8 pellets (1 oz) at 1200 fps. 6" pattern with no flyers at 50'. Far superior to the loads I've tried so far.
A #4 buck load with similiar performance would be 'the' load for me. I think there's a market for such a load for home defense. Might ought to send an email or two.
