After looking around for a while, I finally found a black one at a reasonable price. These things are getting pretty hard to find for some reason. At least not at inflated prices.
I had seen several of the Chrome versions, and the different style polymer striker fired version but I held out for a traditional one in black.
It hasn't gotten here yet (scheduled for Monday ETA) but I have to admit that the price was pretty good. $299 for a NIB steel handgun makes me pretty happy.
Here is the Auction link. The guy had another (in chrome) for the same price if anyone else has been looking.
I've thought about getting one of those in chrome before and putting CGW parts in it just for the heck of it. I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on the quality once you get it in.
Just like there are so many different brands of AR's and 1911's, there are a bunch that make the CZ75 too.
Cz, Tangfolio/EAA, etc.
I did my best at research and went to their main website and found that Canik has ISO 9000 certification, so I suspect that it'll be fine where quality and spec is concerned.
I have a Turkish-made Weatherby pump 12 gauge that was heads and shoulders above all other similarly-priced pump shotguns at the time...I had a new Mossberg at the time and got tired of the thing rattling while carrying it in the woods so I sold it and bought the Weatherby...I am betting the Canik is better than just average.
Was able to pick it up and try out a few mags this evening.
Certainly not a torture test by any means, but it fed 2 mags of Tula 115, 2 mags of Wolf 115, and 2 mags of 147 gr flat tip Federal American Eagle.
102 rounds fired
0 failures.
And was accurate with all of the above.
This gun is full of awesome. It handles well, points well, shoots well. The sights had the gun shooting in the black from round 1, but the rear sight will need drifted a little left because it's shooting about an inch from where the point of aim is. Elevation isn't adjustable, but doesn't need it anyway.
The machinework is fantastic. Matter of fact, I can't even see any toolmarks on it and there sure aren't any chatter marks anywhere.
The trigger pull right of the box is at least as good as my Beretta Centurion and it's had some tweaking done to it. Double and Single action pull is smooth and not heavy at all. I have a 15 lb hammer incoming, but I'm not sure if it even needs it.
I also have a set of vz diamondback grips and a holster due by the weekend too.
I want the original first, but will totes recommend one of these to someone.
The CZ-75 design is one of the best pistols ever. Top 3 in the 9mm parabellum. (Glock and Hi Power get the nod above it for influence and overall design but by small margins)

They're really nice slugger. Machining is clean, the gun is tight and is a really good shooter straight out of the box.
The biggest difference I can tell between it and a CZ brand is the barrel and slide are machined a little differently and wouldn't be interchangeable.
But to be honest, of the two, I think the Canik is the better way. At least in terms of supporting the case. If I were guessing, it was probably done that way to make it easier for production being less steps.
The CZ brand has a little Notch in top of the barrel that would fit into a slot in the slide.
And the Canik is solid in the rear of the barrel and the slide goes up over the chamber entirely, rather than fitting into a groove.
I thought CZ was a firearms manufacturer (like SA or S&W) not a model ie CZ 75 BD is a 9mm decocker model made by CZ, at least I thought it was made by CZ.
What or who is Canik and how can they make a CZ 75 B? Isn't this like Chevy making a Mustang?
Yes I know AR and 1911 are types of rifles and pistols respectively made by different manufacturers. So there is a type of semi auto pistol generically called a CZ?
I never said you said they did. I'm just surprised that CZ is a generic term like AR or 1911. So I learned something today, I had always assumed that anything CZ was made by them. Thanks.
After shooting this gun a lot in the last few weeks, I've found it to be an exceptional value.
The only thing about it that I don't really like is it has mag brake and it doesn't drop the mags free.
I did a search online and found an alternative mag brake that doesn't prevent the empty mags from dropping free and it was only $10, so I ordered it. It hasn't been delivered yet, but after it's done, the pistol won't need anything else.
It's reliable, accurate, points good, feels good in the hand, shoots well. I'm not all that great at product reviews, but all I can say is that I'm happy with it, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a decent handgun.
This is certainly one that has pleasantly exceeded my expectations.
