I performed a number of searches and could not find the answer to the following question.

    Hope someone can help.

Is Alien Gear and Old Faithful Holsters run by the same guy, Thomas Tedder located in Fort Smith, AR?

By looking up who owns Alien Gear Holsters, it appears that they aren't the same guy. Same city, not same guy.

The reason I ask is because, after I ordered a holster from Alien Gear, I received an email from Thomas Tedder acknowledging the order. A Thomas Tedder is listed as the President and founder of Old Failthful Holsters.

Both companies products are similar in cost, specifications and, style.

Interesting, both brands also appear to have the same construction as well...

Doing a BBB lookup OFH shows up as a business but Alien does not.

Not to mention the alien website looks hastily put up and very amateurish. I could be wrong but it doesn't look like the same company.

I received my new IWB Holster from Alien Gear. It looks identical to those offered by Old Faithful Holsters. The Alien Gear arrived assembled and appears to be high quality. The gun fits very well. For the price of about $29 assembled to what Old Faithful Holsters offers (about $75 assembled) the Alien Gear's price and quality wins even when taking into account the next statement.

Just one observation which may be a factor on all non lined leather holsters. When wearing the holster on bare skin I feel some scratching. Will that go away or is there something that can be done to smooth it down?

I found this on the BBB site.

"If a business has been accredited by the BBB, it means BBB has determined that the business meets accreditation standards which include a commitment to make a good faith effort to resolve any consumer complaints. BBB accredited businesses pay a fee for accreditation review/monitoring and for support of BBB services to the public."

It appears the Alien Gear has not applied for this accreditation.

While the business does not have to be accredited to be listed on the BBB site, it does take time from the starting the business to betting on the site. In fact, it took over 5 years for Old Faithful Holsters to get listed. It took Crossbreed Holsters 2 years and Firearm Holsters is not yet listed. Maybe Alien Gear will be listed soon. Either way all of the above mentioned Businesses are worthy of your support by purchasing from them.

Hope I didn't ruffle any feathers.

The leather will get softer the more you wear it and everything. My OFH was like that at first but after wearing it in the Oklahoma summer weather, it has gotten much softer.

On a side note, I got my OFH for around $45 but I got the put-it-together-yourself version.

no ruffle here, I was just mentioning that the site wasn't listed on the BBB. Usually though a lot can be said just looking up a site there.

A long time ago, when I first found alien gear I did a "whois" search on the website and it showed me that the website was registered to Thomas Tedder. Now, the registration is private, but check the link below...the DNS resolution names for their servers include aliengearholsters AND oldfaithfulholsters.com. So, yeah...it's the same company. Like Cadillac, GMC, and Chevy...same company, different levels of service and quality. :)

Given Alien Gear's terrible customer service I seriously doubt they'll ever make the BBB certification. If they do I'm sure it won't last long.

With my OFH, I took it apart and treated the leather. I used Saddle Soap on the outside (Gun Facing) part to make it soft and pliable so it would take shape and break in faster. I used Mink Oil on the inside (Skin Facing) part to soften and water-proof protecting it from sweat damage.

After the first week, it was perfect. After more than a year, the thing is crazy comfortable.
