I went to the range today and shot 100 rounds of 9mm and 100 of .45 ACP.

With the XD-9 my groupings are about 2 inches in diameter at 20 feet.
With the XDS 45 my groupings are much larger, about 7 inches in diameter at 20 feet.

For those of you that own or have shot both of these guns, I am interested in your experience with their accuracy compared to each other.

I sure wish I could shoot the XDS with the same level of accuracy.

I routinely shoot 2-3" groups with my XDs at 7 yds shooting at a steady pace, 3 shots in 5-7 seconds.

    Practice, practice, practice.

5 shots @ 10 yards. Maybe the 100 rounds of 9 wore on you.

+1. With plenty of range time, I'm now shooting around 2" groups at 8 yards. I'm slowly going further, just started practicing 10 yds. I hope to replace my stock sights with either Truglo HDs or ameriglo hack sights...saving my $$.

    Great gun, enjoy...happy shooting!

I've marveled at the accuracy of the XDS. It's a better gun than I am a shooter.

Here's my last trip to the range (details below)

Is the 9mm out ? I haven't been on this side of town in a while :(

I am itching for a new ccw for pocket carry , did they release the 9 yet ?

    Try reading it again...:roll::mrgreen:

    XD-9

Besides the XDS is too big for pocket carry, either 45ACP or 9MM..
If you want a 9mm pocket carry, then a Kahr PM9 or CM9 would be in order..

Depends on the size of person and pockets. The XDS isn't a completely unreasonable pocket carry. Sure it's a little larger than the Kahr and a little heavier, but with a good holster like the Alabama and the right pants/shorts...it's not out of the question.

I shoot my XDS way better than I do my CM9 so the CM9 is now up for sale.

Love the comparison as I have the exact same two guns and am experiencing the same results. When I shoot my XD-9, I feel like Rob Leatham. When I pick up the XDs, I feel like I've never shot before. Very frustrating but I have over 1,000 rds of .45 to practice with.

I think it is not so much the caliber as it is the sight radius.

XDs short barrel = short sight radius.

I have the XD9 and XDs45. I am more accurate with XD9 then with XDs. But I am a lot more accurate then either of those with SR1911 (5 inch)

But all that said, I feel the XDs is plenty accurate for a CCW, which is all I bought it for.

I have the xd 45 and I rent the xds 45 when I go to the range. I am much more accurate with the xd out beyond 7 yds, but in a ccw situation will you really be shooting out beyond 7 yds?

Bought mine for CCW as well, but I would like to at least get some decent results from it. I think next time I go to the range, I will find a coach to see if he can: A: pinpoint what I may be doing wrong and B: shoot my XDs just to confirm it is me.

I find no notable difference in accuracy between my XD9 and my XD-S.

Here is an XD-S target @ 7 yds, 10 shots, at the 1" black square. 8 out of the 10 are on the black.

Oh oh....I didn't read this before I went out this morning. I was pocket carrying my XD-S in a Desantis holster....leaving my PM9 in the safe. The main thing I don't like about it is the Desantis holster causes my leg to sweat. :(

While the XD-S is not optimal for pocket carry, I can't agree that it is too big for pocket carry, at least not for me. :) Of course, I don't wear tight blue jeans either so that would make a difference too.

Went to the range today with both the XD9 and the XDs. At 7 yards, the 9 popped holes where ever I wanted to. The XDs once again questioned my abilities. I kindly asked the gentleman next to me if he would take some shots with my gun just to see if it was me. The XDs was shooting low with him. Turns out he is a LGS owner and suggested upgrading the sights to some TruGlow's or just compensate for the low sights. Either way, I feel MUCH better about me and my new XDs now. I will probably upgrade the sights and report back later.
