I have both the 3.8 and 4.5 in the 9mm and have been recently looking into getting another firearm because I have the money to spend. I've asked a lot of people and friends what they prefer and it seems that there is a fair amount of people that like both the .40 and .45. I was hoping someone could help me with my decision. It would be for home defense and possibly conceal carry. Thanks

I'm a .45 fan. But I have shot a .40 Glock once, and thought it was a nice firearm. A .40 has a higher cap magazine, unless you are in California, New York, etc.

9mm and .40 are closer in specs than .40 and .45, might as well go big if you already have a 9mm IMHO.

Strange combination, using the same pistol for conceal carry and home defense.
typicall for home security you would have a full size and CCW a compact/subcampact.
As far as caliber you allready have full size in 9mm, I would delegate that for home defense and get either a DXs in .45 or the Springfield EMP 1911 for CCW
Better to go with the .45 as the .40 is not much more as far as fire power over the 9mm

With the .40 a simple barrel change and you can new firearm in a calibre. A 357 Sig is a great 2nd option.

    I would go with the .45. A 9 or a 40 may expand, but a 45 will never shrink.
