Did they change the rules to allow XD's into SSP? I saw that the rules list striker fired pistols as eligible for SSP but not sure if they consider the XD a striker fire. I know it has been a matter of contention for a while and thinking about shooting my first match next weekend.

Never bothered me. ESP is pretty lonely and I like it that way...

That was in the 2015 rules revision. Good to go in SSP so long as you meet the other SSP rules.

E.g. My XDm is not allowed because I put the PRP trigger in it.

thinking of doing an xd mod.2 tactical 5" for SSP, since my XDM 5.25 has got pretty much every goodie from PRP in it, making it an ESP. what exactly can one do to the xd mod.2 trigger to keep it within SSP?

You can only replace the internals. I have a XDM5.25 I replaced the internals with parts from Springer. It is better but not as good as the entire trigger replacement. You can add grip tape but no stippling, you can change sights but no after market extended slide release or mag button.

    ahh thx for the info!

The rules seem pretty open to interpretation often times.. What parts specifically did you do on the trigger?

As for the mag release, I thought for all divisions could do a form of extended so long it didn't protrude .2"? No?

"Extended magazine release button may not be oversized in diameter or protrude more than 0.2” out from
    the frame"

    Thx again for your insight!

Yes the e t mag release in all divs is a new rule for 2017.
You can replace all the internals of the trigger, sear. Springs, trigger bar, just not the trigger itself.

I'm just coming back to shooting IDPA after about a 9 year hiatus and I don't mind the new rules... but then again, a lot has changed from 2007 when I shot it almost weekly. I like the 1 second penalty because it makes it more focused on accuracy and not a hose-fest like USPSA. I'm not knocking USPSA, frankly I like the freedom that comes with that discipline, but I like how IDPA is "slowing down". The reload thing, I've heard about and I'm glad you can move and reload. That only makes since. My greatest happiness comes from the cover fault lines. I used to hate hearing the cover call because SOs would consider things differently.

My biggest surprise with coming back to IDPA is that after 10+ years of hating Glocks, I broke down and bought a G19. Competing with that in CCP in carry gear is just so refreshing... though I may have to dust off the XD40 after season to reminisce,

My issue with fault lines is it removes cover form many stages, a primary diff from USPSA. Plus too much time is used up making sure I am not faulting or it is a trip hazard in many stages. I didn't mind cover calls & being an SO, didn;t mind giving them. The best part of the rule change is the 1pt down & reloading anywhere & being able to re engage targets from anywhere.
