I carry Speer gold dot .45acp 185 grain standard pressure JHP's in both of my main carry guns, looking to replicate the loading on my reloading press for consistent practice.

Seems like I got some cheap 185 grain bullets back in the day can't remember where I got em though... I've found SWC lead bullets but I dunno if those will feed well in my Kimber Ultra Carry or my XDm 45 compact....

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

Save the lead, buy some Nosler 185 gr JHP .45 pistol bullets, set your dies for these and never worry again it they will shoot.

about $45 for 250, kinda spendy compared to the 200 grain lead round nose I load now but, I could swing 250 of them a few times a year.

Try them, you will like them. They are cheaper by the thousand. I am not a lead shooter as the XDs sometimes don't like lead. Another choice would be Hornady XTP's, still not cheap, but you have to decide between cheap and reliable. Sometimes you need to bite the bullet cost and shoot what is 100% reliable in your gun. Both of these are.

Berrys bullets....185 gr plated flat nose is one option. you can get them direct from berrys (free shipping) or slightly cheaper from Powder Valley but you have to pay shipping so it's only cheaper if you need some other stuff from them on the same order.:)
I shoot a lot of their 200 gr HP and it's very accurate out of my XD 45 Tactical.

Montana Gold and Zero are other options for jacketed bullets.

Berrys is a good target load and reasonablely priced. I shoot them in 9mm. They would be good plinkers. They are reliable to shoot in an XD.

I practice with FMJ in the same weight as my carry ammo. I shoot a box of the real stuff monthly to keep myself familiar with the sound/sight/recoil.

All my XDTAC see is lead bullets, but easy enough to replicate std vel/pressure 185gr loads for practice, regardless of bullet type. Berry's is a good way to go if your gun won't feed a LSWC as my TAC won't I feed it 200grLTCFP, 100% reliable @ sub 2" @ 75ft accurate.

Round nose lead bullets work great in an XD. I shot a few mags last week end on my buds XD compact 45acp which by the way was very nice to shoot.

Rainier also has a great selection of plated 45 ACP bullets. My Dan Wesson Partriot likes them along with Precision 200 gr LSWC on top of Bullseye.
