New rimfire that can hit 3000fps yes please
Awesome Round but really hard to find ammo or rifles.
Savage B-Mag shoots pretty well but they couldn't have made a cheaper gun if they tried.
ya its still pretty new I spose I'll hold out for a better rifle that Bmag is kinda funny lookin to me but I do like the rotary magazine. A lot of the stores in my area don't carry the ammo yet either and they aren't sure when they will when I ask too...
A lot of guys around here are buying up all the ammo and the don't even have the rifle to shoot it yet.
If you can get passed the looks and cheapness they shoot okay. I guess it's not how a gun looks or feels that matters.
It's out around here.
Why not a .223 bolt gun? It'll be cheaper in the long run; the .17 ammo is right around .30/rd...and you can't reload it.
The bmags do have a few issues, broken ejectors and accuracy. I sent mine back to savage because the best group I got at 100yds was 1 1/2 inch with ammo sorted by weight. I got a brand new one yesterday from savage, hopefully it shoots a lot better and it has the improved ejector. I might sell it either way since I bought a CZ 527 in 17 Hornady Hornet and that is a squirrel snipers dream. I can reload it cheaper than I can buy the WSM cartridges for and get over 3500fps

What % of shooters are reloaders?
what is the average cost of factory sub MOA .223?
That there is the main benefit of .17hmr in my opinion. All of the factory ammo I have used is incredibly accurate, and to achieve the same accuracy in .223 it's going to cost me slightly more to load. It's a common comparison and I used to make it too standing in the ammo aisle.. 17 seems expensive compared to the cheapest .223...but the cheapest 223 cannot compare to .17hmr in terms of accuracy.
The 17hmr is hard to beat in terms of accuracy or price, I had 500 rounds delivered for $110. I don't think I can reload my 17 hornet for that when using VMax bullets.
Tried out the WSM that Savage sent me as a replacement, after shooting about 30 rounds through it, I put a target at a 100 yards to see how it groups and I got a group at .8 inch
It is a bit much for raccoon if you want to skin them and sell the hides as head shots basically destroy the entire skull
Depends entirely upon the rifle.
I've seen a Savage bolt gun do sub-MOA with surplus XM193...repeatedly.
