Somebody went off the deep end.

AURORA, Colo. (AP) — Police Chief Dan Oates says 14 people are dead following a shooting at suburban Denver movie theater.
He says 50 others were injured when gunfire erupted early Friday at the Aurora theater.
Oates says a gunman appeared at the front of one of the Century 16 theaters.
He says "witnesses tell us he released some sort of canister. They heard a hissing sound and some gas emerged and the gunman opened fire."
Police say one person has been arrested. Oates says there's no evidence of any additional shooters

Saw it on the news just now and got sick to my stomach. Innocent people going to the movies not expecting they wouldn't come home.

One of the witnesses is describing seeing a dead little girl. That dude should be carved up with a rusty knife.

Ive always said that movie theatres would be a crappy place to be if shtf, they say no weapons allowed. Then some crazy guy can go wild with people stuck in a room and the only way out is through the gunman.

I feel VERY uneasy going see movies, now this just makes it worse for me

Prayers to all who are affected by that mans actions

The ones where I live don't prohibit guns but I admit it's been a couple years since I've been. I stopped going when the amount of black people going and the resulting necessary police presence made it more like stepping into a prison yard.

Just woke up and saw this on the news. Death toll is up to 15 now according to Fox News. I always carry when going to theaters and I prefer to go to the matinee. Too many people in such a small place for me to go to the midnight premieres for me.

I "don't see" the no gun sign at my theatre. An when we go, its always a show before 1pm.

What was the deal with the hissing canister?

This society creates crazy people by the second, seems like the whole country is full of people that can't keep their cool, they go off the deep-end over every little problem, as the world gets overpopulated this is only going to increase.
I am Sorry for all of the victims of this senseless act, as for the coward that done this........he SHOULD get a public hanging.

I hate waking up to this kind of news! I'm sure the anti's are jumping for joy right now and that our legislators are dusting off their gun grabbing bills as I type! While tragic, and I do sympathise with the loss of the families, I'm surprised that this doesn't happen more often. "Gun Free Zones" are just "Target Rich Zones" for the loonies and perfect places for them to commit their cowardly attacks on innocent, unsuspecting people! Prayers for the families....

Sadly, you're right about the Brady types finding joy in this.

Terrible news... This world is getting out of control lately!
Guess the solution here is to wear body armor when in public places?

The sad part is that if just one person in that theater was excersising their second ammendment right. It may not have gone that far and there may have not been as many casualties.

Me either, it is not against the law to carry in theheaters (in my state) it is only a violation if the owner or his representative like a manager sees you carrying and tells you to leave and you refuse in which case it is a minor trespass charge.

This is such a sad story and I too am worried that it will be used to further create gun-free defenseless people zones by legislators.

There very well could have been a ccw holder in there. However, given that the BG had body armor, you'd have to make a head shot in a dark, smoke filled room in a sea of panicked people running everywhere. Good luck.

Well they just released the identity of the man on the internet, this really makes you think about what you would do if something like this happened in a theater you and your friends could be in.

It is senseless, unfortunately I believe that it is the shooters fault as well as the product of his parents raising. Guns have been around for centuries, and its only been in the past decade that mass shootings started become the new trend. How many times do you see or hear about kids getting what they want just by screaming their heads off. Not being punished for what they do. I only say this because even though there will always be sick and dangerous people out there, there were hardly any mass shootings like this 20+ years ago. My prayers go to the families of the victims. I carry because of these stories.
