I've had my XD Subcompact 9 for over 9 years now and it has been my primary carry gun ever since. Countless rounds fired through it and training. I was wondering if I should "worry" about parts starting to fail or wear out. I obviously switched out magazines a few times over the years.

Striker retainer pin. Mine came out in two pieces when replaced it at about 15,000 rounds (yes I dry fired it but not a huge amount relative to live fire)

I just called Springfield and the very nice woman litterally asked me what parts I would like shipped out. So I just said the basics, she replied with "ok I will ship you 3 striker roll pins, 1 striker, 1 striker buffer spring, 1 striker main spring, and extractor.." I was amazed. I said how much? She said don't worry about it and I got the parts within about 3 days. Pretty sweet CS if you ask me. Hit 500 rounds today in my new XD 9 by the way. I love this pistol. I think it is my favorite.

I would say yours is broken in, IMHO after 1000 rounds no malfunctions or parts breakage I would say it is broken in and ready to carry/duty use. I didn't need parts because I had broken ones I just called and asked how to get spare parts just to have on hand because I told her I shoot a lot, said how awesome the XD was and then the conversation ended with her sending me free parts.

I recall the first time I heard about the XD. Years ago while visiting a dealer in Flagstaff, AZ.
The sales folks there were armed as it was a Class 3 dealer.
One had an XD40. He said that the developers of the XD conducted a durability test and it was something like 30k rounds through one pistol without a hickup....I just wonder how how it's been this long for me to try one.....
