FINALLY committed to a decision

Choosing between the Sig and the CZ was one of the hardest decisions I ever had to make but I'm happy with it. Ended up going with the Extreme 40. I felt it was too good of a deal to pass up and got it OTD for $775 with a free SIG hat. What really made the sale was that I still get the voucher for two free mags and gun pouch so the deal is even sweeter.

Already have it treated and lubed with FireClear so tomorrow will be interesting since I've never shot a Sig or a .40 before. If I don't like it I can always get the 9mm barrel 6 months down the road. Either way I think I did great for the money plus two free mags!

Thanks for all your opinions and advice through the decision making Snap, it helped! The more I held it at the shop the more the P320 and guns like it were not cutting it. I love how this gun feels in my hands and don't need to do one thing to the trigger but shoot it. I was apprehensive about the .40 but maybe it won't be much different than the 124 +P 9mm's I keep in my G26. I'll just have to MTFU if it's "snappy" like they say it is.

Absolutely will do.

Both my 226's are in 40 as well as my XDsc (EDC) so, ya, good choice. No need to MTFU, that frame loves the 40.
Good to know. I'm really anxious to what the gun is like and to see if the .40 is as snappy as the interweb claims it to be. I didn't want another caliber to buy but now I see it could be an advantage. Why limit myself? Who knows, I may really like the .40, skip the 9mm barrel and go right for the .357 Sig!

Thanks, and I agree, with the short reach trigger and short reset the grip and trigger is perfect for my hand. IMO the trigger is perfect and I have no desire to change anything. The only thing I noticed is with the short reach trigger sometimes my finger gets pinched a little but I can work with it.

Are you saying one of the hardest decisions you've ever made is choosing between two guns? :?
That's what I'm saying. With my wife I can't get a new gun every couple of months so when I'm buying a new gun, and dropping a lot of money for one I have to make sure that the chosen gun is exactly what I want because if it's not, I'm SOL. I was really torn between the Sig and SP-01 Tac but ultimately I feel the Extreme for that price and free mags was a better value. I went through the same thing last year when I ordered my new vehicle and had to choose between my two top colors. It was a big deal since it was the last production year for the the vehicle in the US and I wouldn't just be able to sell it and get the color I wanted down the road. Its a one time deal.

If so; he is truly blessed, or very young. Either way, he's fortunate.
I turn 30 in a couple of weeks; is that still young? And yes, I'm fortunate that one of my hardest decisions was to decide between to excellent guns. I have plenty even of time to get the other guns I want no matter how much I want them right now. At least I can cross the P226 off my list.

My LGS has police trade ins (sig red box) for $599, in perfect shape. I guess they are sent to Sig, refurbished, and then sent back out. Really debating on picking one up myself.!

Polymer guns are nice and very good as self defense tools. But a 226 is in a whole different category, they're a pleasure to shoot and along with CZ's and 1911 they're timeless classics. The Extreme is a great version and for mid 700's it's a steal.

Add a 357 Sig barrel and a 9 barrel and you've got everything but 45 covered.

Bravo SFM!

Thanks! Agreed on the polymer for a good cc or SHTF tool . Like I said, the more I held the P226 and the P320 side by side the less I desired another polymer gun. The Sig is my first really nice gun that is not only my new HD gun but also the crown jewel for my little collection. I can see myself getting the other two barrels whether I like the .40 or not for the sake of variety.

Off to the range I go...

No offense taken. 30 is young and I feel young but I'm already seeing how things go fast. It seems like I graduated yesterday but its been 11 years now. If we have kids I'm sure it will go even faster but we're still debating on that one. We're trying to enjoy our marriage for a while before we rush into kids. When I was in high school people always told me how fast life goes but they didn't tell me how fast my responsibilities would change soon after. College, career, wife, mortgage, car payments, possibly kids...it changes things fast all before the age of 30. When I was 19 30 seemed so far away, but it wasn't.

Nice gun SFM. I am also a youngster around here. I don't turn 30 until September. If this is the hardest decision you have made, you are truly blessed...;)

I only put 50 rounds of Aguila 180gr through it and 8 rounds of Hornady FTX 180gr and so far I love this gun. The trigger makes it really fun to shoot and I didn't find the .40 to be that bad at all. I prefer 9mm for cc but for HD and the range .40 is fine. I didn't do any rapid shooting because I was just familiarizing myself with the new platform, the .40 round and I haven't used 3 dot sights in about a year and a half. I think I'm used to a 6 o'clock hold from my Glocks too.

The center target was first and was probably my best group. My DA shots were always a little low but that was expected and they were at least consistent. The DA shot @ 10yrds for the upper right target was really low and I'm still getting figuring out where to hold. The bottom left target was my second target and the worst, to be honest I don't know what happened there. Overall it isn't the best shooting but I don't think its bad either. If the target was the torso of a threat they would have still been in trouble and my accuracy will improve.

Shot 8 rounds of FTX at about 9 yards

Seems like I might be shooting a little to the left but I'll go to the range a few more times to be sure before I adjust them.

I'm really happy with my purchase and the gun didn't have any issues. It feels great, shoots great and the .40 didn't end up being the horror story I was led it to be. I'll still get the 9mm and probably the .357 down the road but I'm in no rush to do so. Next time I shoot I plan to stay at the same distance from the target so I can really figure out where to hold the sights and get consistent at it.

Two thumbs up for the P226 and my first Sig!

^^^Good point Snap, I guess with the current and recent events in my life I understood Bunk's point a little to well.

For you guys with Sigs, do you use grease on the rails? The Sig maintenance video shows only oil and that's all I normally do but with the stainless slide, aluminum frame, nitron finish, and the length of the rails it seems like grease might be a good idea. I use FireClean everywhere else and Otis 85 in the bore.

Right now I just have some Tetra grease and its a pretty good grease but it turns orange after awhile and other people have complained about this as well. I was looking at Brownell's Action Lube Plus but I know Slide-Glide is popular. Would you recommend the lite? Our average summer temps in the UP are only in the high sixties and winters are usually well below 30 degrees. If its any colder than that though I won't be shooting anyway.

Thanks for the good reading also.

I've had good luck with tetra grease. As for slide glide, I use lite almost for everything but have some standard for a few not so tight slides.
