Anyone got a P-09?

This had really sparked my interest and could very well be my next purchase. About the only downside I see is $45 mags. I watched Hickok's video and he said it was a true 6 o'clock hold, at that point he was shooting out at his gong. I don't mind 6 o'clock holds out at 100 yards but at 10-25 it annoys the piss outta me. Hammer fired 9's have been intriguing me lately and this one fits the bill so far. My second option is a Rock Island 1911 in 9mm but it still almost seems sacrilegious, and from what I've read good mags seem to be hit or miss.

Hands On John McPhee Reviews the new CZ polymer handgun
Accuracy.
To start, CZ has been known for its accuracy in all of its pistols. Personally, I tend to think that this accuracy comes from CZ’s quality barrel and the way the barrel locks up. I believe that the barrel in this P-09 is the same barrel as an SP-O1. In addition, it is most likely to be the same barrel that is in the legendary CZ 75. Although it might not be interchangeable from pistol to pistol, it is the same barrel manufactured on similar hammer forging machines. For practical accuracy (this is not arms room, this is not reading out of the manual, this is my practical use on the range), I have seen my 100-yard shots with a CZ pistol increase resulting in 5 out of 5 or 10 out of 10 successful shots; where, I might only hit 3 or 4 out of 5 with my other pistols. I trust that this phenomenon has to do with the beaten zone (grouping) of the pistol. For example, if a similar caliber pistol other than the CZ shoots a 12-inch group at 100 yards and a CZ shoots a 6-inch group at 100 yards, then the 6-inch group has a higher percentage of accuracy and more chance of hitting the target. I saw the same performance at 200 yards when I shot 5 out of 5 again. I believe that CZ P-09 is probably the most accurate polymer-framed production pistol produced today.

Overall
The CZ P-09 proved to be very easy-shooting pistol. It’s solid all the way from accuracy of the barrel to its performance in austere situations that would normally malfunction most polymer pistols. It has a good, clean trigger. The accuracy is through the roof. I cannot give enough credit to the accuracy on this pistol. Right out of the box, I put a loaded magazine in it. I shot three rounds at 100 and hit, and I shot three rounds at 200 and hit. With my first six rounds out of the pistol; no oil, no maintenance, no nothing—no issues. I continued to load magazines and shoot. The P-09, so far, has been awesome in my first 1000 rounds. I have no complaints and my P-09 pistol has never seen a drop of oil by me. I probably won’t oil the pistol until about 8,000 rounds or until it needs it. I have yet to experience a malfunction. So, I will let you know in 8,000-10,000 round article on the CZ P-09, how this actually pans out.
I did not use discretion on specific type of ammo I shot with intentionally. I shoot everything ranging from tall ammo, cheap steel-case ammo to very expensive ammo for my 9mm’s. I throw it all in one can and pay no attention to it. To date, I have not had any malfunctions caused by changing from one ammo type to another. The P-09 performance is unmatched compared to any other pistol I own with the same cheap ammo.

I seriously doubt you'd regret picking up a P09.

I had a P9 and was quite happy with it. Accurate and reliable and the SA/DA trigger was very smooth and I like that you can go safety or decocker, and you can't beat what they sell for.

I haven't had a RIA 9mm 1911 but I did buy a Citadel 9mm 1911 and it was a nice gun. I'd say it was as good a shooter and as accurate as my SA Loaded in 9mm with the slightly better trigger. I wound up selling both of them to buy my Dan Wesson Pointman 9mm 1911, which is head and shoulders above either.

If I had to pick between those 2 I think I'd go with the P9.

Well I guess the next question is do I just get the black P-09 or wait a bit and get that sexy FDE model with night sights for another hundred bucks? I don't need night sights on this gun but that FDE makes me wanna slap a cat in the face!

I'd wait for the FDE with the night sights, mostly because I like night sights even when shooting primarily at an indoor range. Plus CZ does have a great FDE shade.

I'd be shocked if you don't really like the P9, for the $$$ it's hard to beat. Same for P7.

I bought my P09 9MM first. It impressed me so much I just bought a P09 in .40 S&W.

I'm sold on them. I was a 1911 guy (still not getting rid of my 1911's) for over 30 years. Tried several other brands of polymer framed guns (all striker fired) and just did not get satisfactory accuracy and one brand was just unreliable for me. I bought a P07 and it was just super (accuracy, reliability, fitting my hand). Then I got the first P09 and was impressed enough to get another one in a different caliber.

As they used to say. Try it, you'll like it.

I bought one about three weeks ago and so far it's been a very nice gun. The full size makes for very comfortable shooting. The DA trigger is stout around 10 pounds, but the SA pull weight is sweet. The decocker can be changed to a safety with the supplied parts. It's hard to beat a CZ for the money and if you like a large pistol with 19+1 round capacity, this gun is for you.

I wouldn't mind a P09, the P07 Duty has been a great gun but I do like the improvements CZ made. If you want a FDE P09 this is a more expensive way to go but I think it'd be worth it. CGW makes very nice parts for the P07/09.

Yeah a little more than I want to pay. I did find a P-09 in FDE, just got the shipping email today.

Must have been an office party at the Post Office. My P-09 arrived at the hub last night only to go 50 miles in the complete opposite direction to some random town this morning. Fingers crossed cause this weekend is looking good for some range time.
