Well, I haven't returned my kit as of yet. I'm still debating on how I'm going to handle the situation.

I purchased this trigger kit, because I was told that it was a "drop-in" kit. Because it was supposed to be a drop in kit, I didn't plan on paying someone to do the needed fitting. I also planned on buying the trigger bar, that will need fitting as well. This being the case, I am going to price a trigger kit and trigger bar (parts and install) at my local shop. It may end up being cheaper to buy the parts, and have them installed by a local gunsmith.

I'll need a day or two to make up my mind.

Will XDguys and/or Bob's Custom Shop warranty the products once you/us (non-qualified gunsmiths) start grinding and filing on the parts?

No, you didn't. Not me anyway. At first thought, working a file on the sear doesn't sound all that difficult, but I'll admit, I have almost no gunsmithing skills at all, and I'm not sure I want to test them out on my XD. I know it would be a good idea to learn sooner or later, but until then, I feel more comfortable paying someone who really knows what he/she is doing.

According to XDguys website, the warranty is void if a qualified gunsmith doesn't do the work. I know the trigger kit is only $45-$50, but I don't want to be forced to replace it, or any other parts I may damage along the way, simply because I didn;t want to pay some a few bucks to do it right the first time. If a gunsmith screws up the gun, I'd like to think that they'd be the one paying to fix it.

I just chose not to mess with it so I'm taking the option of returning it.
