This has been Googles land-standing rule when it comes to Ad-Words marketing. Yahoo has the same policy. No gun related ads of any sort. Also, if you use PayPal, get ready for them to shut you down and seize your funds for 180 days. Ask me how I know all of this.

Paypal too? I will have to put a halt to our accepting Paypal then. Bummer for customers though. Our eBay ads redirect to our store front anyway.

Yahoo too? All of my ads with them so far are "Approved" (2 months now). Maybe they are turning a blind eye...? I just signed up with Lycos today as well. I am going to have to read the fine print on all their policies.

I see a great business opportunity to start a Google-esque, Yahoo-esque, etc... search engine for gun brokers, buyers, suppliers, etc... Or, is there one somewhere?
BTW, I signed our site up at dmoz.org... Hopefully we get listed there too. Sheesh, you'd think we were outlaws for buying/selling/loving our guns!

It took Yahoo four months to catch us and PayPal one year. There is a reason why you see so few firm in our industry use Ad-Words, etc.

PayPal is very ANTIGUN, since EBay is very ANTIGUN.

Thanks for the heads up! I guess I will have to wind down the ad-word frenzy...

I would look into Live search(MSN). for 1 thing they arnt in California. And hey we all know microsoft likes money more than anything.

When is comes of live search, the thing to remember is that when people upgrade to IE7, the default search engine becomes live. also every poctet PC searches live search by default, so it might be worth looking into. I couldn't find any policy info, but it had a nice easy was to get a rep to call you. Check this out, and see if it helps at all.Live Search - Microsoft*Digital Advertising Solutions

Teoma, which is what I use a lot, used to advertise that they were pro-gun, or at least neutral. Works similar to Google.

I wrote to Google suspecting I had done something incorrect (since I am pretty new to this), but, they responded at first, with a canned email that my ads violated their policy on firearms and ammunition. I wrote back questioning the policy and received a response that they "understand" but are "exercising editorial rights". They ended with this:
"Please note that the decisions we make concerning advertising in no way affect the search results we deliver."
Give me a break! Google has gone the way of the politically correct social activist. This is America... I understand that maybe Iran wants to censor their people, but not here! This should not be happening. I am just amazed.... It just proves to me that Google does censor and control the search results to some degree... Well, that just means I am going to dump the Google budget into the Yahoo budget we already have and give them all the money! Now, THAT is American! Freegin Google. Go back to Venezuela and work with your buddy Hugo...

EXACTLY! google is an independent company and has every right to do this. THATS WHAT AMERICA IS ABOUT. its not the government censoring you its a corporation that chooses not to do business with you.
i am pro gun rights but i am also for private business being able to do what they want and have the right not to do business with i person or a group that they feel isnt in the best interest of the company
