Well, the number worked. I spoke with a rep who said that it is simply their policy to not allow any gun related material to be advertised. Both in keyword and if the non-gun related keyword leads to a gun related site.

They would not refund my money either since, "I should have known the policy". Can't argue much with that I guess... I could have read it... But, needless to say I am going to visit MSN and the others to see about campaigns there.

I asked if I could write to anyone at Google to ask about this insane policy (although I did not call it that to her) and she said, "no". HA!
She said I could only write to: adwordssupport@google.com which is who I have been writing to already with no real world results.

Basically, they said no guns, no refunds, no talkie...

I asked the same thing. She said they don't filter "organic" results. Thank God for small miracles.... I guess I have to use the old school method of getting our name and product placed just right within the site.

And they may wonder why their stock has tanked to a 52 week low. Also, gotta remember where they're based.

You may already be aware of the below, please pardon/ignore this if you are.

The organic results usually come from submitting individual keywords, one by one, to ODP - Open Directory Project. It's also helpful to make sure only the same relevant keywords are in your tags and language. The drag about this process is that it's slow and you need to keep submitting (monthly) to keep your site up there in the page listings.

No problem man. I'm sure there are people here that can help with SEO and Page rankings alot more than I can. Anyone else have any other ideas? Start a separate thread on this?

I never use google anyway always yahoo. They never pull up anything I'm looking for. Maybe now I know why, they pull anything interesting to me off thier data base.

A few important questions...is there still time remaining on the initial purchase of the advertising contract?

Did they send you a written copy of the policy?

Were you required to sign or provide any type of statement of understanding?

These could establish a basis for a possible legal action against them for a breach of contract...

I wrote to Google suspecting I had done something incorrect (since I am pretty new to this), but, they responded at first, with a canned email that my ads violated their policy on firearms and ammunition. I wrote back questioning the policy and received a response that they "understand" but are "exercising editorial rights". They ended with this:
"Please note that the decisions we make concerning advertising in no way affect the search results we deliver."
Give me a break! Google has gone the way of the politically correct social activist. This is America... I understand that maybe Iran wants to censor their people, but not here! This should not be happening. I am just amazed.... It just proves to me that Google does censor and control the search results to some degree... Well, that just means I am going to dump the Google budget into the Yahoo budget we already have and give them all the money! Now, THAT is American! Freegin Google. Go back to Venezuela and work with your buddy Hugo...

**** google, and get your money back. I stopped using them. I only use yahoo and other services.

Google, as well as ebay and many other tech companies based out of California are known to be very anti-gun.
