Re your Nuvi being stolen: tho it is sort of a pain, I remove my nuvi and put it in its case every time I leave my truck. I also remove the charger if I'm using it and put it and the mounting device in my counsel or home depending where I am. I never leave anything visible that will encourage a burglar to break a window and look for it.
I'd recommend the same. It's not paranoia, just prevention.

I bought the Nuvi 200 about a year ago, when it was $200. I've had no complaints with it, it's served me quite well. I could use the new map updates, but there's no way I'm paying 60-80 bucks for it.

Take a look at your windshield after removing your GPS (if it's a suction cup mount). In many cases, a ghost-like ring will be left behind from the suction cup, and thieves case parking lots looking for the tell-tale sign that the vehicle has a GPS unit somewhere inside.
