Colt LE6920 opinion

Howdy

I was curious if you guy's have any opinion's on this rifle. The local dealer can get one brand new with 2 30rd mags..sling....cleaning kit for $1400, iv looked around on some website's and iv seen thies going from around 1300-1500usd. Im sure it is kind of high but I dont really mind paying the extra money in a colt (figure the name itself brings the price up).

Just was curious if you guy's had any information on this rifle, was going to go with an RRA but I figured I would like a colt and alway's wanted one.

Thanks guys

Of course if you want a Colt - get a Colt.

That being said, I think the RRA's are just as nice and significantly less expensive. I've had no problems with my RRA entry-tactical.

colts dont come with a crome lined barrel.

busmaster, RRA, Armalite, DPMS.... all equaly as good compared to a colt (IMO) and almost half the price.

but if you want a colt get a colt.

Well, it is a Colt, there is some value in that...but I think that you will get more for your money if you did a Bushmaster, RRA, Armalite, or DPMS.

If I had $1500 burning a hole in my pocket and wanted an AR, I would get any of these and put some good optics on it, and still have a few bucks for ammo, mags, a sling, and some tacos on the way home from the range!

Or an AR and a nice AK to go with it

I don't know who told you Colt's don't have a chrome lined barrel but they the, at least the 6920's in question do.
I would base this decision on your intended application of the rifle.
Is this a plinker? There are cheaper plinking AR's out there.
Is this a duty rifle or any sort of defense rifle? Colt's QC is hard to match, this would be a good choice.
Do you intend to keep this rifle forever or maybe sell it off? Colts will hold their value far better than any other brand of AR.
I say yes it is a good rifle but there really are cheaper Colt options out there. Regardless I wouldn't pay $1400 for one. $1150+shipping+FFL fees is more realistic.
consider some of these as examples:

I've seen them going for up to $1800 lately, but there's no reason to pay more than $1100. http://www.knesekguns.com/price.php

The 6920 is probably the best M4 style carbine available to civilians. For me, it wasn't worth the $300 premium over a Bushmaster, but for a lot of people it is worth it, and I wouldn't argue with them.

All AR15s are about the same until you get into the real high buck guns like Clark Custom Guns, Les Baer, or JP Enterprises. The only reason to pay $1400 for a Colt is if it's for a collection and you are never going to shoot it.
With gun makers out there like Rock River, DPMS, and Arma Light there is no reason to have to spend more then $700 to $900 on a AR and at that price it should be new in the box. You should be able to find a real nice used rifle for less then $700.
You could go through an FFL to get a complete lower for $250-$275, and then order which ever upper you wanted (no FFL requiered) for $450-$550, it would be even less if you just ordered a stripped lower through your dealer, and then ordered the parts kits and put it together yourself.
I just picked up a lower+lower parts kit+butt stock asembly at the last gun show I went to and put out about $160, and I will put together an upper for it also.
You can get all the parts from Brownells, and you just need the FFL to order the lower recever.
Thats if you are just looking for a shooter.
I just hate to see people pay too much for a name.
And as always, that's just this guys opinion.

It's worth noting here that the DEA is using RRA AR's.
