All it took was a split second. my dogs were playing and i lost focus, and BAM.
When i got home from work...i decided to clean my XD... dropped the mag, racked it back, my dogs distracted me, the slide went forward, i 4got about the round in the pipe, went to remove the slide and BAM. A federal hydrashock blew a 2 inch hole in my desk, the exit was 4 inches wide. the bullet mushroomed, hit the side of the desk and bounced across the room. My remington oil bottle was hit and exploded. The bang was so loud, i was in a daze me for 10 seconds. The bullet flew 4 inches from my leg. I did not know what happened at first. the shock wave blew everything off my desk and pieces of wood were all over. My dogs were freaking out. i 1st had to get my focus back, calm them down and deal with it. Well, when it was all said and done, my office, desk and gun are now clean.
i don't fault the gun at all...i fault myself. i now have a permanent reminder of what a split second of what
not focusing can do. see the pics below.
I cannot stress this enough...follow the 4 rules...all it took was a split second...
