I attended a car race last week and our national anthem was played. Naturally for me I took my hat off as a mark of respect. I looked around and a number of people did the same but I reckon the majority kept there hats on.
I know that Mr Obama didnt place his hand over his heart when your anthem played there not so long ago and that was seen as a mark of disrespect. What do you think? Hats on or off? Hand on heart or its no big deal? mulder

Definitely HATS OFF! With regards to hand over heart, I think thats not a huge deal as long as you stand at attention and shut your mouth. I hate it when people talk during the anthem. I do put my hand over my heart for the pledge of allegiance...

Absolutely.
I believe I read something about Veterans and Retired Military having the option of rendering a salute to the colors. You need to wonder what the statemnet being made is when one chooses not to place their hand over their heart? For some it's ignorance, for others the opportunity to show something else, but what is that? Jeff B. |

Hat off.
This is a little off topic but I go to all the Louisville Football games, and it really annoys the piss out of me when half of the students just keep talking and gabbing their trap while the national anthem is playing. No respect at all. Without our freedom and our troops our asses might not even be able to watch a football game. Irritating. |

HAT OFF...HAND OVER HEART!! NO QUESTIONS ASKED!! NO EXCEPTIONS TOLERATED!! (and I will be singing along)!
I attend WVU Football and Basketball games as a season ticket holder and there are some folks, without fail, that think it is okay to socialize, leave hats on, and otherwise ignore what is going on around them when the National Anthem is played. I make it a point to "remind" these @$$HOLES to show some respect for their country and for the people who have made sacrifices so that they can enjoy the freedoms that they so obviously take for granted! It makes my blood boil every time this topic comes up and every time I see someone behaving so disrespectfully! |
