Would this be "Weird"?
2 years ago a friend took his life, this weekend the shotgun that he used will be sold.
Would it be weird to own this? or want to buy it?

It would be weird for me, but I can understand your interest in it. After all, it's just a tool.

Maybe weird, maybe keep the gun in honor of your friend, not his deed? Probably not the best "memento" though. Tough call. Do you want the shot gun? Would you feel weird about owning it?

I think it would be out of honor to him.

Not a shotgun, but I got a gun with a similar history. Shoot it every now and then too. Not as weird as you might think. IT IS SOBERING! Makes me reflect a lot on the person, the life cut short and especially those left behind. Then it goes back in the safe for another long while.
Takes a long time to 'get-over' a suicide. Never regretted keeping the gun, many regrets I couldn't find a way to help my friend--hell, it would have been a big help just knowing he was feeling so despondent.
When I put the gun away, I say a little prayer, drink a little toast; he was a good guy. I bet your friend was too.

Similar situation here, My Grandmother insisted I take the 2 pistols my Uncle(her son) used to end his life with, since I'm pretty much the only "gun guy" in the immediate family. I shoot them once in a while, but really no more or less than I shoot some of the other rimfire pistols in my collection. The thing that sorta gets to me is cleaning them, more solitary quiet time to think.

It would kind of creep me out. Different situation but my brother bought a street bike his best buddy died on and rebuilt it to new condition to honor his life. I personally would not want the gun though.
