+1 on Hatch gloves. I have a pair of the Elite Marksman Shooter's Gloves (yeah, yeah, I know ). They fit very nice and let me keep most of the feeling on the fingertips for trigger control. However they aren't insulated at all so may not work too well if you have to be in below-freezing weather for hours. 20 minutes or so would be fine; or if you have a muff or a pair of mittens you can use on top of them between shooting.

Anyhow, here's the link to their shooting gloves page: http://www.hatch-corp.com/Law%20HTML/shooting.htm. They also have a section on the cold weather gloves in the menu on the left.

Enjoy your class!

This might sound rather silly, but the best pair of shooting gloves I've ever found are IronClad Box Handlers. As the name suggests, they're designed for handling cardboard boxes, but the grip also happens to be perfect for firearms. The material is thin enough that it fits like a "second skin," yet gives you superior control over the firearm.

You can find IronClad gloves at many electrical supply stores, and maybe at Home Depot or the like.

I like using these gloves. I don't think that they are endorsed by any tactical/swat/special forces groups, but I like them. Dexterity is good and they have the right amount of "tack" to them for a great grip. Plus, if you need a glove for colder weather, you can get the winter version.

Back when I was an "operator" I wore these gloves.

...ok, I have never been an "operator" but I was in the 82nd Airborne for three years and did wear gloves like these most of the time.
