self-defense story

food for thought...it's a set of stories about a CCW guy intervening in a road-rage fight and eventually killing the attacker...it has spurred all kinds of discussion here, many people for and many against the use of a weapon

Let's pray this good citizen is absolved of any wrongdoing and another POS (Mr. Need) is removed from the earth. That may sound harsh but it this guy has the ability to strike a woman over words then I guarantee this isn't the only bad thing he's done or is capable of. Someone that is that much taken over by rage is an extremely dangerous individual.

"Why do good people go to jail? It's because of cases like this," Cooper said. "What may seem like common sense to you may be against the law."

Since when does the law not follow common sense? Why should a law exist if it doesn't? It sounds like the "law" needs to be changed to reflect what society deems appropriate.

Wow. Good story. I like Jack McMillin's response to the original article. According to the information given in that article, the shooter did nothing wrong in my opinion. That's my opinion based on what I've learned from my CHL instructor as well as various articles from defensive handgun instructors and legal experts. From what was presesnted in the article it sounds like the good samaritan did everything right (with the exception of the warning shot.) Here's hoping the shooter faces no charges and is recognized for the good citizen he is.

"Washington, D.C.-based police consultant Bruce Mendelsohn doesn't argue with Americans' right to have guns but said law enforcement should be left to professionals.
"Something like this did not have to happen," Mendelsohn said about the York killing. "If you see something going on, call the police. You do not want to take matters into your own hands.""

Yeah, like they actaully show up on time to do anything.

I remember watching a show about people that survived bad situations. One involved a woman who was attacked by a man with a knife. She managed to get away, and he left. She was bleeding from knife wounds and called 911, while she was talking to the dispatcher, the guy was trying to get back into her house, probably to finish her off. It took the police like 40 minutes to show up after she called 911!

Are you saying all laws make sense and are reasonable?

I agree! The second article was "spot-on" here. Plus, it has the added credibility of being written by a retired, 39-year LEO. That adds a lot in my book.

Those were great articles! Jack McMillin's response was spot on.
