Hey All,

I am applying with different Law Enforcement Agencies all over Utah, and a few in Nevada and I wondering if already having your CCW is any more beneficial than not having it.

I was just wondering what your thoughts on this are and any other advice that might help me get on with a department would be appreciated!

They will see your CCW, and assume you are a gung-ho nutjob, and they will not be inclined to hire you....................LOL!!! J/k

I wouldn't see where it would harm or hurt you. I think they would be a little more concerned about your character, physical fitness, and academy\Criminal justice education and performance.

I am not a cop, but I am one of few men in my family that did not pursue LEO. I went I.T. instead. CCW doesn't qualify you to be a cop, and I doubt it is even looked at as a plus when hiring in.

Most of my cop family and friends commend me for carrying, and they totally support it, as rank and file officers, but they don't look at me as a junior officer or anything. Just a guy taking initiative to hold his own until help arrives.

It's not going to sway a decision one way or another. Remember, LE hiring is all about the "total man" concept.
