JSOnline.com, Web site of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel this is the best Packer coverage I know. And for some very revealing information about the whole thing: Packers Blog And, especially, this analysis of why the Pack won't take Favre back: Why the Packers won't take Favre back - Packers Blog Several interesting tidbits: 1. Favre was apparently ready to come back in March, but at the last minute, as McCarthy and Thompson were ready to fly down to Mississippi to announce it, Favre called them and said he'd changed his mind. 2. The Pack has spent April, May, and June, in the Opportunity sessions and minicamps, installing their offense for this year, an offense that takes advantage of what Rodgers can do, not Favre. As a fan, I frankly don't want to see that wasted. 3. Favre fans are probably aware of how Favre faded in the second half of the season over the last three years. 4. Favre's ability to handle the cold is in question. 5. If Favre comes back (says one analyst), they probably can kiss Aaron Rodgers goodbye. It's time to see what AR can do. If AR leaves, that would leave the Packers with true rookie quarterbacks, as opposed to Rodgers who is still untested, but has had 3 years to figure it out (and as many analysts note, he wasn't thrown to the wolves at first, so he could learn the offense). 6. Is Favre in shape? He's presumably not been working out as he has in years past, and it's already July. My guess is he's not in shape, and the only way he was able to do what he had was to be in really top shape. I'll bet he's not. 7. The Pack may be able to trade Favre for at least some compensation, and in doing so, they can control where he goes. Going to the Bears, Lions or Vikings isn't optimal, or even any team in the conference. 8. Heck, it's time to move on. I'm a Packer fan, I remember watching Bart Starr's sneak in the Ice Bowl on TV. I've got tickets to see the Pack play in December. It's time. Go Pack! And good luck, Brett, wherever you end up, unless it's against the Packers. Mongoose

i have no idea how old you are, i am 30, but consider yourself lucky that you have ever in your entire life had a QB that was worth more than two $hitz. I cant say that, much less 17 years in a row with a quality QB.
I do hate athletes and celebs "retireing" every boxer does it, Too short, jay z, jordan, magic johnson, even that bitch barbara striesand with her fake "final chance" concert tours, i wish if folks "retire" get their ass kissed and folks cry and they come back we get to throw rotten tomatoes at the least, and maybe tar feather them the most. To me it is clear, its transparent, they love the fan fare the hoopla of the "last season" why do it once when you can do it two or three times. They make a big deal out of it on the game day, you go on leno, letterman, connan, ESPN makes a 5 minute highlight reel for you, you get begged to stay more than one year and feign non interest and say you want to spend time with family. Then the next year i guess the family is not important anymore? Its surely not money all the SOB are worth 30 million - hundreds of millions, and they all do it. They are vain SOBS, their soul needs total ass kissing and they need to be begged to stay. |
