Box office is another great app. It uses your location to sort movies or sorts by online rating and allows you to select a movie then shows all showtimes at each theatre. Also you can search by theatre. Sports tap us a quick app to get sports scores without any BS and the Apple remote is sweet if your computer is your main audio or you use apple tv. I use windows media center to stream my music to my home theatre through my xbox360 so it's not great for me.

you can also watch (pirated) movies saved on your computer through the 360...solid state media (dvd's, cd's, etc.) is going the way of the dinosaur! screw blu-ray.

It's not exclusively generational. I was at the Mall at Millenia in Orlando the Sunday after the release (2 days later I believe) and there were easily a hundred people in line waiting to get into the Apple Store to buy a 3G iPhone. There were a significant number of people on the high end of middle age and on up to senior citizens who were in this line.
