I know this isn't the venting forum, but this week has gone in this order:

Sat/Sun - spending the weekend with my wife at a sister-in-law's house that I can't stand.
Sun night - spent the evening at the ER with my wife because of some health issues that came up out of the blue.
Mon - take the day off work to monitor my wife.
Mon Afternoon - 3 deputy sheriffs show up and arrest my wife for something I know she wasn't involved in - 2nd degree felonys. Spent the afternoon scraping together funds for $50,000 bond ($5000 doesn't just grow on trees - thank god for bail bondsmen!)
Tues 4am - pick wife up from jail.
Tues all day - spend day making follow-up visits to numerous doctors about said health issues that cropped up with the wife.
Wed - come back to work and now have to explain to my boss what happened, and provide paperwork proof because he didn't believe me.
Thurs - took the morning off to take wife to more appointments. Worked in the afternoon and got more crap from the boss about having missed work to tend to my wife's health issues.
Today - wife goes in to get scoped. I get a call from the hospital that there were "complications" and they have to keep her for a while and that I cant speak with her - no indications of what went wrong. Boss gives me a ration of crap about wanting to leave to early, so I have to wait until 5:30 to drive 45 minutes to the hospital to find out what's even wrong or what happened.

Sorry guys - the gas thing is just "fuel" for the fire - pardon the pun!
So what happened with the bogus felony charges against your wife?

about oil companies posting record profits:
Their profit margin is 15% at best, the reason their profits are huge is because they sell an ungodly amount of fuel and chemicals a year. There are many other industries that make a LOT more than 15% profit margin on you but no one cries about that. Pharmaceutical companies are known to have 30,000% profit margins on some drugs, some even as high as 200,000%. Restaurants have insane profit margins, the list goes on. This windfall tax is utter BS, Jimmy Carter tried that in the 80s and it was an epic failure. If you impose that tax on the oil companies, guess what they are going to pass down this extra expense on.....the consumer. If you think gas prices are high now wait until this windfall tax comes in. This is exactly what happened in the 80s. That tax on companies that make a lot of money is total crap, punishing them for being successful, so anti capitalism and so pro socialism.

America needs to cut down on its consumption, stop using 6000 lb vehicles to take a 150 lb human being to work. The dollar taking a dump in value isnt helping either
