I recently moved in within the state (from newport news to suffolk) and my permit is from newport news and has my newport news address on it. Whats the best way of getting a new permit from the city? Im pretty sure i dont have to go through the whole process again...i just would like my permit not to have a diff addy on it. Thanks for the help!

I would call the police department or where you applied for the CCW. I haven't applied for mine yet. I'm in Hampton and stationed at Langley. Any information that you can give me on applying for one would be helpful. I know I need my M16 qualification paper work, but beyond that I don't know what I need or where to go.

If you're military i have no clue. I know it's easier for you to get it, basically fill out the paperwork and you're good. The easiest way i found for a civilian to get it in VA was go to a gun show. You can do everything in about an hour and get all the paperwork you need to send to the court and do everything right there.

ah dude, first off, welcome to suffolk, thats my home turf, alas, i am not there right now, Im in Kentucky. . .
As far as moving within state, i cant give you anything definate, but the state of VA might not be worrying about that too much anymore. A good friend of mine moved from chesapeake to suffolk, and his CCW has his chesapeake address on it. When he went to the courthouse to change address, they told him not to worry about it. I would double check to be sure, but that is what happened to him.

You do not have to get a new permit when you move. I had a CHP with a Richmond mailing address and moved to Arlington and then to Fairfax. Just recently went to renew my permit and gave them the one with the Richmond address on it. Your CHP is linked to your DL anyways. When you change your DL's address it will update your CHP.

Ok cool. Thats what i was thinking. Only reason i would want a new one is it makes it really easy to have two forms of ID when purchasing new firearms.
