Another Burglary. . .

A very close friend of mine back home in NC had his house broken into today. Stole all his guns, cash lying around, and his wife's jewelry. He had an older Springer 1911 that his Dad gave him, ran like a champ, a Bersa .380, an old S&W .22 that his dad also gave him. . . sucks, sucks a big one. He lived about 10 minutes from me, out in the country.

I swear, they left the city to get away from sh!t like this. God, I hate worthless human beings. Even if insurance covers most of it, it wont replace the sentimental value of the guns his dad gave him. Not to mention their sense of security, his wife isnt going to be able to sleep or come home alone for weeks now. . .

Now Im trying to talk my parents into buying a safe. We have all my grandfathers old guns, plus ones I have bought since then in there. . .

Sorry to hear that man. I know I would be going nuts loosing my guns like that. Take the cash, take the jewelery, but my guns are more special to me then most everything else in my house.

I am lucky to have a pretty secure house. I wont get into details but I can tell you that if someone broke into my house they would not be walking out under their own power.

I can only hope I am never put in that situation.

Two words; Pit Bull. I have two and no one is going to steal my guns.

That does suck though.

I have seen very few dogs, even 2 Pits, survive a well placed .45.

Get a safe.

It does suck and it also points out the value of a good gun safe. Those guns are now in criminal hands. My guns are either on my person or locked up in the safe.

One of my friends had an older rifle passed down from his grandfather stolen out of his house. Gone forever.

BTW... he only stored his guns in a display case. None were locked up because he thought that living in the country would be safe.

I love the look of a nice oak and glass gun cabinet... but the reality is they aren't practical. Like others have said, a quality safe that weighs a ton.

Sorry to hear of the loss.

I agree with getting a safe... BUT, you don't hear of too many homes with a dog, let alone two dogs, let alone two Pits being broken into. Thieves prefer easier homes to burglerize.

The problem with Pits is they raise your home owners insurance and they may get you sued when they attack someone they should not have. Pits are responsible for the majority of dog attacks in this country and they are the most likely breed to turn on their owners. Plus you will look like a drug dealer they always have a lot of pit bulls running around. Basically pit bulls are likely to cause you more problems than they will prevent. I am all for dog ownership but not that breed.

My homeowners insurance wasn't raised because of my Pit, it was raised to pay for the hurricanes in Florida and for Katrina. Pits aren't responsible for the majority of attacks. The media only reports on pit attacks and not german sheps or others, so it SEEMS pits do the most damage. Pits are least likely to turn on their owners. Man you are one uninformed person. Your post is one of the most ignorant I've read on this site and that says a whole bunch.
And you're LEO, I'm assuming? Not good.
