Car Stereo

I have a Sony Xploid CD player that is in my truck. After approx. 4-5 years of use, the screen and buttons aren't working and I can only change channels/volume with the controller.

It has been awhile since I have purchased a CD player. I am wondering which are good brands and which brands to stay away from. I don't need anything fancy since I'm out of the "subwoofer" stage of my life.

I am wanting to keep the total cost under $100. Does anyone have suggestions of which CD player to get?

Thanks,
Scott

For car stereos, that's what me and my parents have always had. You'll get what you pay for.

I replaced the Eclipse (which was the biggest POS I ever owned!) in my truck with a Pioneer a few months ago. I'm very happy with it, and I really like that it has an iPod port because that means I don't have to keep CDs in my truck. It was out of your price range, but without the iPod compatibility I think they have a model that would be under $100. I think mine was $259.

Get a kenwood! I LOVE mine. Get one that has the USB input. You can slap on a thumbdrive full of music (I have a cheapy 4gb one in there now). I was going to use the ipod one...but I wont cry if my thumbdrive gets stolen...my ipod has more music on it than I could ever recover.

The last 2 I've bought have been the Sony Xplod models. The 1st I got just had an auxiliary input which was great for playing my 4GB Walkman phone through, but the battery on the phone would die in short order. I just bought another Xplod for my Durango which has both an aux input on the face and a separate cable that runs from the back into my glove box for my Ipod. The Ipod cable keeps it charged up and gives me a direct interface to the Ipod on the head unit. IIRC it ran me $129 at Circuit City.
