Pioneer for sure.

I would never buy anything less. Even their cheap stuff is better than the midrange stuff from competitive brands.

Stay away from Sony and Panasonic and JVC. They all = junk.

I have a Pioneer DEH-P9800BT in my camaro and I will be putting an AVIC in my new truck. I have owned 1 kenwood and 1 alpine, both high end before I made the switch to Pioneer. Been going strong with Pioneer ever since... Been 10 years now and the first one I ever bought is still going strong! Its just been swapped from my camaro to my boat. I needed handsfree bluetooth in my camaro and the stereo in there now has it integrated.

I had an old school eclipse and it was the best radio I ever owned. That said I baought a new one last year and I hate it. Panasonic's aren't bad for the cash

It was out of your price range, but without the iPod compatibility I think they have a model that would be under $100. I think mine was $259.

My Eclipse was also an old school unit. I had it installed in 1999. It never worked right from day one, the stereo shop that installed it didn't care and neither did Eclipse. One of my coworkers had a similar experience.

I had a kenwood with removable face plate until my old truck got stolen. One time the screen and controls stopped working but it was because the contacts between the faceplate and the unit had been depressed so much that they weren't expanding to the original width and so were making bad contact. If yours is removable try bending them out or cleaning them or something.

This thread is useful to me too since my stock cd player in my silverado recently started having problems inserting cds; I have to cram them in with one of those slim cd cases. I want to find something at a decent price and that at least can play MP3s burned on cd. USB connection sounds even cooler.

I'm considering this one for 159.99 although it sucks I have to buy an $80 adapter to wire it to my truck.
