Unhappy Locked out of the house...Got in!

Time for a security upgrade.

My wife left the house key I asked her to bring when we left for dinner this evening. We found out when we returned and couldn't get in. Thankfully I had a cheap multi-tool on me and was able to use a small pry bar/nail-remover looking thing and jimmy the lock. I'm a member of a lock-picking forum and they would frown upon this but hey it worked and we were in the house within 5 seconds (literally). That's the part that scares me.

I'm going to add a block to the bolt, extra motion lamp and not feed the dog at night

I've helped a few friends out over the years by getting into their house with a driver's license or credit card. When they saw how easy it was they upgraded too.

I've used a variety of things to jimmy windows on my house open.

anything flat with enough room to put some pressure on it.

Shake shingles, a garden hoe, a spatula from the BBQ set (favorite and easiest).

That is a really quick pick. I can't open my xd cable lock that quickly and I have both keys! I swear this thing is defective.

Send a message via Skype™ to magua
I think I'll test my locks tomorrow, thought that was just a TV thing.

It wasn't so much of a pick as a 'bump'. Put some pressure on the locking mechanism, turn the knob and flex the door and ba-da-bing! you are inside!

LOL I had to do the same thing, my sons car seat was in to house, so I went in, put down the keys grabbed the seat, walked outside and locked the door

2 butter knives borrowed from my neighbor (not the 1st time I've had to do this ).

I always lock the dead bolt too, I have a few shady neighbors and we've had a rash of burglaries around so if they see me opening the door with a couple of butter knives we will probably be next : /

Needless to say my XD is always with me and my rifle is hidden as best as possible open carry is legal in Nevada so maybe I'll strap that baby to my back and wear it everywhere I go...
