As long as it isn't something that could be spun into a "brandishing" charge, I don't care if anyone sees any of these things. I would open carry if the police recognized it as legal here. There is no law against it in CT, but they will file a false charge of brandishing, or disturbing the peace if they see you doing it in most towns.
So, as long as it won't get me trouble with the law, I am not worried. You can't be hassled because someone suspects you are carrying due to a strange gait. On the other hand, if i was concealed carrying for tactical reasons, or doing it illegally (which I wouldn't do) then these things would be helpful. Last edited by LKB3rd; 06-29-2008 at 12:51 PM. When I need to adjust the position of my gun, I try to do it facing the wall of a grocery aisle, or behind something that shelters up to my waist.

Good link.
I wear an atrocious Hawaiian shirt to distract and partially blind potential gun spotters

ive been cc'n for 2 days now and can say - it takes getting used to. It may take a few more days of just wearing my gun to be comfortable. My size makes it an issue. i have made many of these mistakes already.
I need to buy bigger shirts. the 2x's that i normally wear print my 4'' real fast.

Good link, and I did find myself doing many of these things (particularly adjusting) due to the added weight of the weapon.
However, a heavier weight belt, and a two-point holster have helped conciderably in dealing with these issues. And, since my holster is adjustable, I'm able to adjust cant and ride height based on what clothing I wear.

I suppose those are good tips for a police officer looking for folks who are going to cause trouble, but really don't mean much to us who are legally carrying and not going to do anything wrong with our weapons. I imagine there are few folks who spend their time trying to spot CCW folks in the crowd at the mall. Probably some cops somewhere using this to pass the time by playing a game of "who can spot the CCW civilian" whilst munching on their (stereotypical) donuts.
