Nurse Awarded $7M After Being Jailed for Saving Cop

Strange story, Does anybody have MORE info?

CHICAGO — A nurse who helped a Chicago police officer from a wrecked squad car and was later accused of stealing a weapon has been awarded $7.7 million by a federal jury for false arrest.
In November 2002, a car ran a stop sign in Rachelle Jackson's neighborhood, slamming into a squad car. According to her attorney, Jackson, who was walking nearby, found the officer behind the wheel unconscious and the passenger, Officer Kelly Brogan, dazed.
She pulled Brogan from the wreckage. Soon after, police approached Jackson and told her that the driver's weapon had been stolen.
Jackson was accused of the theft. She was charged and spent more than 10 months in the Cook County Jail awaiting trial. Her case was later thrown out by a judge and Jackson sued the city of Chicago.
Defense attorney Andrew Hale said the amount the jury awarded Jackson was "excessive."

how is 7.7 mill excessive? you threw the person who SAVED the life of a cop in jail and took 10 months of their life away from them!...

heres a clew to tell if the person doing CPR stole your gun or not...
1. if they came on foot and dont have the gun, they probably didnt steel it.
2. Some one who steels a gun from a cop probably wont hang around to save the cop.

I know theres not a lot of information in the artical, but I just cant immagine that it would be that hard to tell if the person who saved your life took your gun or not. Im assuming that she stayed with the officer until help arived, meaning if it wasnt on her/in any bag she may have had, then you can safely say she didnt take it.

This is why as much as I cringe at bullsh!t lawsuits it's nice to have the option. Lawyers are like cops. No one seems to like them until they're needed.

7 million is perfect for letting the city know that a lack of common sense can cost them a lot of money and probably their jobs if they in an elected position.

I don't know what's so hard about understanding that when they take "time" (the most precious thing anyone has) away from your life because of stupidity then they should pay.
