look what i found in the garage today

was cleaning out the garage and i happened to look down by my work bench back in the corner. there has always been a spider web down there but i paid no attention to it we have spiders around the house and i dont care to much for them but i dont kill them due to all the insects we have in our yard and the mosquitos there are in the summer.

well anyways as im sweeping up and cleaning under my bench i look down and notice a spider a big black spider! i take a closer look and sure enough its a freaking giant black widow just lounging on her web, i had just put a small gas can back there about 5 mins prior to spotting her!! i go in the house and grab a mason jar and a deck cover plate and scoop her up in the jar.

i called the exterminator to come spray the house etc. i found two egg sacks i removed and placed in a jar full of gasoline. im going to do some research tonite with the Florida DNR and see if they want to take this monster off my hands anytime soon. i told the wife i was going to keep it for a pet lol.

they are actually pretty docile little creatures she is just hanging out in the jar not trying to escape or anything. well here is a pic

i think i would rather have a black widow around rather than a brown recluse. those are nasty little boogers. when i worked in a prison in south texas we had an outbreak in the prison and even with prompt treatment in the infirmary and mass antibiotics, those things left nasty wounds and scars. i kill every spider i find unless it is what we call a fly spider...

Send a message via AIM to lobster_roboto
That's awesome.

My brother recently found a tarantula in his yard.
