One of the first things I thought about when I read this this morning was that it was too bad none of the passers-by were armed. Maybe the outcome for the child would have been different. Maybe.

Ah, no. If someone is walking around hoping to get a chance to take a life, that person needs some soul searching. Something is missing in your life. My 2 cents.

They didn't have to be armed. They could have taken him with bare fists. The problem is, nobody wanted to go all the way and they probably tried to 'approach' him and talk to him.

In the meantime, he was beating the baby to death.

you never know how you would react in real life, but I am sure I would not have let that continue...

I think I would have subdued the man if I was one of the passersby. Somehow someway I would have, especially if others were there with me.

Big honking +1 on that!

If I were present during this situation, I do believe that I would have taken him out.

Do I want to be in that position? Hell no. I never want my gun to have to clear the holster except for while on the range.

So if middle aged to elderly people were the passerbys (elderly couple was among the passerbys) you expect them to take on a raging 27 year old man in unarmed hand to hand combat? I wouldve shot him if he didnt comply with my orders to stop the serious bodily harm hes putting on a 1-2 year old toddler. Taking on someone younger and probably larger than you in hand to hand is a good way to get really hurt.
