What's bothersome is that I don't particularly feel outraged or sick... I just feel a subtle sadly resigned sensation that this is what the world is now. It's hard to explain.

You read a story of this nature and realize that this sort of thing happens all over the world... more than we often care to see.

It's disturbing no doubt but i'm in no way surprised....which is more disturbing.

When i was in college i saw a guy throw a baby as hard as he could into a brick wall from about 5 feet away, killing the baby instantly. The police were there the whole time and the officer with his gun out practiced far more restraint then i could have. The man was arrested and jailed.

It's a sick sad world for sure

From the article:
Quote:
"What we got from witnesses is he was punching, slapping, kicking, stomping, shaking," Singh said. "They tried to intervene and get involved, but their efforts really didn't have an effect. The suspect was engaged in what he was doing. He just pushed them off and went back to it."
I wonder would have come of it legally if a citizen witnessing the beating before the cop arrived, had shot that dude dead.

Question: What would you have done had you been one of the passers by? How would the police and courts deal with you based on what you did?

Not a mass shooting here like other cases we have heard of, but we all know one person with a gun could have possibly saved a life or two.

I wondered that too, if you came upon this, there would have to be that momentary pause in which you would have to doubt what you are seeing is real. What if you shot the guy and found it was just a stunt of some sort. Scary.

First of all. Bless that poor child. I am sick in the stomach over what happened. I read the story this morning before I left for work, and it prompted me to give my sons an extra long hug before leaving the house.

Lastly, I hate to use this child's demise to make a political statement, but it makes me wonder if the bystander would have been legally armed if he\she would have felt more confident in intervening and saving the child's life? A gun may have well saved this child's life.

The idiot that did this would have to have been armed very well or gigantic in order to prevent me from saving the kid, had I been the bystander. I love children, and I would have done everything in my power to save the kid.
