stupid disclamers

My girlfiend just baught a new mp3 player and she was reading the little booklit that comes with it and one of the points it said was

"If you are listining to your music and some one is talking to you and you cant understand what they are saying turn down the volume."

I am REALY worried that there are people who are driving/voting/and just living that NEED that disclaimer to be in there...

I'm sure teh only reason it's there is because some dumbass was listening to it and couldn't here someone yelling at them to get out of the street before they got run over by a bus.

I've always wondered how much stupid disclaimers like this drive the cost of the product up.

Same thing goes with the instruction manuals in languages other than English. I think Dell sends like a 70 page manual for their batteries, in 20+ languages.

That is actually much cheaper for the company. They only have 1 sku instead of 20+. And they can ship the same book without worrying about what language to ship.

Talking about stupid disclaimers/warnings, my brother's crimson trace grips for his S&W 642 have this little warning sticker you're supposed to stick on the side of the firearm that says something about avoiding direct eye exposure to the laser. I'm more inclined to think that eye damage is the least of your problems should you ever find a firearm laser pointed at you...

even worse, they breed. years ago my grandparents lived in a nice retirement village in the rio grande valley. they had maid service and everything. based on location i am sure you can guess who was doing the cleaning. one of them left a bottle of cleaner on the counter and in english and english only it had a warning label. and at the end of the warning it said 'if you can't read english get these instructions in spanish by....'. talk about dumb disclaimers. now if they can't read english how in the hell are they going to read the label to know how to get the directions in spanish??????????????

I trust I am not the only one that is impressed by both the irony and hypocrisy in this?

The Budget rental truck I got earlier this year said "Warning - Avoid Death" on the side.
