Read the enclosed instruction and spec sheet that came with the scope. My Doctor Optics sight is set for 50 yards. Not sure bout my others.

Parallax is a definte problem with the low end red dot sights. Short of gettin an Aimpoint (which come with my highest recommendation, even the older models), you will need to have the optic sighted in and make sure you are using a consistent cheek weld for each and every shot. This ensures that the indexing between your eye and the red dot remain consistent. If you don't want to bother with this, you can probably find a cheap older Aimpoint sight for ~$150.

don't you hate knowing something and just dreading hearing someone else tell you. i had a gut feeling that a 49$ red dot was going to be lots of work or lots of wasted $$. at least it was expected.
thanks

get an EOTech. they are great for shotguns. i fired a Benelli M4 with a 511 mounted on it. wicked fun.

yeah, i know, its a chunk of change, especialy if you're new to red dots....but if you use the weapon a lot, its a worthwhile investment.

if you want to save a little money you can try a Bushnell Holosite. i've never used one, but from what i understand they are the non-military version of the EOTech and work very well. since they are based on the older EOTech models i think the battery life might not be as good as the newest EOTech Revision F, but for your purposes it should work nicely.

side question.....

the Aimpont M3 is out already right? how much does that puppy cost?
