I've asked at two shops in NorCal, one was $50 + the FFL (total $75), the other was $75 + the FFL (total $100).
I believe there are non-storefront FFL's that will transfer for less - haven't spent the time to contact any. At $75-$100 above the cost of the gun, it kind of puts a damper on online purchases... ~ Centerfire |

Same place you are. You can haggle the fee with them? I was under the impression that it was all set. With the cost of the safe it looks like I'm going to be spending a pretty penny above retail. Maybe I'll go see if the make I want is already in stock again. Last edited by Jarwulf; 06-11-2008 at 05:04 PM. |

Nah, I think it was a standard dig at the State of CA... $115 seems high to me but I don't live in CA.

Check the local pawn shops. Also check the FFL list on Gunbroker.
I used a guy I found on Gunbroker for over a year - he charged $25. He went out of business recently so I just walked into a local pawn shop and asked - $25. All the gun shops seem to want $50 MINIMUM to do a transfer. Also, are there any State fees included in that? |

Check out this link from Gunbrokers.com some of them on here charge $25 bucks and they all look like they are in Orange County at first glance.
GunBroker.com FFL Locate by Zip Code EDIT: Didn't look too close the first time, OK, they are all relatively close.

I was just going to suggest the same link from gunbroker.com. I ended up finding an ffl that was only a few miles away that I didn't even know was there! He was $5 more than the further away stores at $30, but he was smaller and much closer and spent a lot of time explaining the system.
